LaRue Tactical Mounts

Well I have on order a DPMS riser (wich is on back order) and a set of Millet windage adjustable rings. But the more that I look at the LaRue mounts the more that I like them. I am looking at getting the spr-1.5 mount and rings. Does anyone have first hand experience with these? I am going to be mounting it on a DPMS LR-204 with a Leupold vx-III 6.5-20x40mm scope. Since this is my first AR I am not sure how high of a mount and rings is required to get my head down on it. Can you buy these mounts anywhere our just through LaRue? Any input would be great.

Now that I have had one....I wouldnt have anything else. They are expensive, cry once and be done with it!

Whunt 64, I have this LaRue mount and scope set up that you are thinking about. It is a solid mount and the height is perfect. No problems getting your head down. It is a bit spendy but a quality mount for sure. I got mine directly from LaRue.

LaRue mounts are in fact TOP notch stuff!
Like 'em so much that I have three so far and just ordered #4 and #5 about 3 minutes ago from LaRue direct...

I was thinking of getting a RRA scout rail /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I have not found any mount for the AR-15 that works better than the Larue for big long eye-relief scopes like the Leupold 6.5-20X50 (shown below). You can cut the cost in half with some other options. It just depends on what looks right to you, and how deep your pockets are at the time. I started with the SPR 1.5 and added the LT-137 side mount for the Burris FastFire red-dot. I use it for running shots and close-in P-dogs that pop up at less than 100 yards. The Larue mount will put you at the right height and you don't need to worry about objective diameters below 65MM. You rarely find them for sale used, so get them from Larue direct.

My LaRue mount always returns to zero, and it makes a long, high-power scope very easy to mount for the right eye relief. They seem pricey when comparing to other mounts, but if you've spent $1000+ on a nice AR and close to that for a good high-power scope, you shouldn't skimp on the fixture that makes these two items into a fine-shootin' rig.

I use the SPR-e for my Leupolds to accomodate their generous eye relief. The standard length SPR 1.5 works just fine for Bushnell, Nightforce, Nikon, USO.

Pic for reference.
Both mounts go in the same rail slots and allow for needed eye relief from each scope (for me)...

I have the SP-E, the way I looked at it if I need the extra eye relief its there, if I don’t I can mount it back a little bit, ether way I don’t think you can go wrong with these mounts…especially if you switch scopes on and off during the year.
