lee classic loading kit

Anyone have any opinions on these? I am thinking about starting to reload for my 270 (and hopefully for a new 22-250 soon). I have used one of these to load 30-30 for years and love it. However, that platform is not a real test for accurate loads.
Cabellas website claims that it is more accurate than most tools since it sizes only the case neck, but I have no idea if this is true.
Would hand loads with this be more accurate than good factory ammo?

Do yourself a big favor and buy one or two of the many reloading books that are out there. They are all pretty good, so the specific brand is not that important. Personally, I prefer the intro provided by Sierra and Hornady. Sierra even has a pretty good video.

You will save yourself much headache and wasted money if you will read for a while first. The "Help New Reloaders" sticky at the top of this form is also a good place to start.

To answer your question, ammunition that is tailored to your specific firearm will show improvement in many aspects.

I hear they work great. In fact some guy set a 1000 yd bench record that stood for years using one.I went with their handpress kit and got tighter groups with my first ever go at reloading.Actually all my reloading gear is Lee except for the powder scale.I already had an RCBS for loading shot shells.Good luck!

I have the lee classic kit. My dad got it for me to start with, to make sure I would stay interested. Still have and have been adding to it.

It comes with more of a pamphlet than a book, however I do have the nosler book and 2 others. I am more just looking for if these kits can make loads as acurate as a press.

Many folks claim to have good success with Lee equipment. I am not one of them. I think a more economical selection in the long run would be the RCBS Partner Kit for about $50.00 more.

I`m a little confused, because you mention you have reloaded for awhile for your 30-30, so you already have a press? and are you inquiring about a die set, as in neck size only?

All of my 204 rounds are loaded with the Lee classic system. I'm also a big fan of the Lee collet die. Dave

May I suggest before you buy that Lee Kit, compare it to others in terms of the dies and equipment you get. Lee will work just fine, except you might discover everything you REALLY need (like a Neck Sizing Die) may not come in that kit and you'll soon find yourself having to go get more stuff that is needed even for the new and basic loader. Good luck and have fun reloadin.
