now a standard stock item. Mold runs from $47-$55 on ebay.

#4 made with pure wheel weights will be incredable killing medicine on coyotes, pure linotype #4 buck will not deform on coyote bones.

#4 buck made from Wheel weights has to hit a rock to deform, I'm talking REAL hard!

Most factory buckshot is made from pure lead in factory shells and the best factory has about 5% antimony in it(copper plated), hard but no where NEAR as close as buckshot made from wheel weights. Also, #4 buckshot made from pure linotype and wheel weights shoots holes straight through coyotes when the speed is up around 1300 fps (1 5/8 oz-1 1/2 oz loads).

derbyacresbob, it is really good for you to educate all of us on how good The hard Hevi-Shot and Rem HD pellets are and that they break coyotes bones very well.

I feel as if I need a 5 gallon bucket of #4 buckshot for zombies, it is time to crank up the lead pot.

I am going to post some pictures of patterns when I am through.

Anyone that is interested in loading buckshot, it is really pretty simple, a Mec 600 Jr or a Mec sizemaster is the ticket, buy'em used off of Ebay. 3" hulls have become plentiful cheap. There are some loads with Blue dot and 2400 that will put the 1 5/8 oz in the 1300-1350 fps.

The 1 3/8 oz loads in 3" hulls are in the 1425-1450 fps, you should hear bb's bouncing at that speed, sounds like bullets in cowboy movies!

Current production BP 4 Buck is running 11.2 g/cc. Some Linotype from the garage measures 10.4 g/cc and wheel weights I found are averaging 10.1 g/cc (+/- 0.5g/cc). Remington HD shot from a cut open shell measures 12.2 g/cc.

Water quenched wheel weights come in around BHN 21, which is almost as hard as lino, and not as brittle, and heavier. In addition, if you oven treated them and water quenched after mixing ww with lino, BHN goes in excess of 33, which is a LOT harder, as base wheel weights run about BHN 13 after cooling normally.

I used to have a casting business, and I used to move a lot of the oven treated variety for use in ball mills, I got a LOT of complements on how hard these were... Lots of folks making their own fireworks and some making other things that needed grinding and that were not subsequently eaten really did like them. I imagine if one wanted to poke holes in something, that would be the ticket if it was not in contact with a barrel. I would NOT try using something that hard in a gun barrel contact situation on game, because though it would not obturate in the bore, it also would not expand in game either....
