lee reloading kit?

I'm barrowing a buddies single stage and going to get a lee classic turret. I have a scale (getting rcbs electronic) 2 books, 223 dies, lee perfect powder thrower.

I see the kit comes with a lot of stuff but do I actually need the stuff in the kit?

any advice welcome.
 
I bought the Lee Classic kit. I upgraded my scale to a Hornady. The powder throw is so-so but I've been using it for 10 years. You will need shell holders and a case trimmer. I used a Lee Zip Trim for awhile and after it broke I just used the adaptor and bolted a drill to my desk to use the Lee case trim gauges. I've been happy so far. And get the shell holders for the priming tool as well as the press and you will be good.

I've got trimmers and shell holders. Was going to prime with the press.
 
get yourself a hand primer its so much easier than doing it on the press. i can sit on the couch with a box of cases and prime them while i watch tv. i pull them out of the hand primer and run my finger across the bottom to make sure the primers arent sticking out and on to the next one. i have a lee press and its worked great no issues and it puts out accurate and consistent ammo. the powder drop isnt horrible but i recently bought an rcbs powder drop and its a night and day difference in quality.

Yes indeed. And every now and then you will drop one on the carpet where it will lay undisturbed until your wife vacuums it up. Yeah buddy! Aint nothing that brings up a bemused twinkle in my wife's eye like sucking up a live primer in our Kirby and having it go off when it hits the fan! Then something else hits the fan!!!
 
With buying the kit you'll have a back up scale. I bought the kit a long time ago I got tired of taking the piggyback off of my rock chucker. The powder throw is cheaply made but its very consistent with powder drops. I all so use the case trimmers with a drill goes really fast. The only thing I don't use out of the kit is the scale nothing wrong with it but I just use my rcbs 505 i've had forever

Haha! Another one that wives REALLY like, is setting up the fox pro next to the couch, putting the volume on high, and playing a coyote challenge call. Never gets old.

You'll need some calipers. The lee powder measure is cheap but works well, much better than my Hornady with extruded powders. The lee kit used to come with a hand primer, not sure if it still does.
