Leica LRF 700? Need a rangefinder?

Any advice on the Leica LRF 700? I have opportunity to buy one for $350.00 which is about all I can afford at this time. I understand the Leica brand is very good. I will use it for deer hunting and hopefully some coyotes in NC. It would be nice to range distances of say 400 yards or so. I would not shoot that far but it would be nice to know. Thank you!!

You buying new or used? If used, $350.00 is too much because you can buy the LRF 700 new from Cabela's for that much. Me personally, I'd save a little while longer and spend the extra $70.00 to get a brand new Leica 1200 LRF Scan from Doug at Cameraland New York. He sells them NIB for $429.99 shipped.

I'm not 100% sure, but from the description on Cabela's web-page, it doesn't look like the Leica 700 LRF "Pinmaster" has the scan feature, which is something I wouldn't want to be without for hunting. Might be alright for golf I guess... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Other than that, Leica makes a great product and you'll never find me in the field without a rangefinder (Leica Geovids).

Or watch Ebay, I picked up my 1200 scan for Less than $350 at my door. Than scan will range in most light just under 1200 yards on trees and rocks and at 400 on most anything. The 7x optics are also very good and at times for going light I just take the range finder and no bino's.
