Looking for pros and cons of using the illuminated scopes on calling rifles.

Anyone have experience using the Leupy FireDot reticle on a calling rifle?

Has anyone used, with success, any other brand of scope with red or green dot optics on their calling rifle??

I believe smokingbarrel shoots one and really likes it. Great guy to pull info from and extremely knowledgeable. Hopefully he will see your post or send em a pm.

I have a VXR with CDS and Firedot on my 22-250. I have no complaints but after a 24 hour hunt 2 weekends ago I was talking with my hunting partner and I realized I hadn't turned it on the whole hunt. He stuck a bullet in his gun from a reloaded round and we just used mine the rest of the hunt and took turns running the light. When I told him I never turned it on he said that's funny he used it every time he picked it up. We were using a Lightforce 170 for scanning so it really wasn't needed but he said it came in real handy (especially for fox) as he never had to focus on where the crosshairs were and could acquire the target much faster. When I do use it quite often is when I am using the scope mounted light on my gun because it is obviously not as bright as the spotlight. I've got a hunt this weekend and another 2 weeks after so I will really test the usefulness out and try to report again.

Thanks for the positive comments, guys! I just purchased a Leupold 1-4x20 AR scope with the FireDot SPR (daylight green) reticle.

I run the Mark AR Mod 1 in a 3-9x40 with the TMR Firedot. It is a nice scope for the money IMO. The dot is adjustable in brightness and have never had an issue being able to see it.

I have 3 Burris electro-dots and like them for low light calling.
