Just wanted to share.....
I have a really nice encore pistol in stainless that I bought an m8 4x leupold silver scope for, bought off the forums here as a matter of fact.
Anyway, back in January I put it on the bench to clean it. I took my hands off of it to retrieve a straight screwdriver and wouldn't you know it, IT FELL OFF THE BENCH. Yes, the entire gun fell off the bench onto the concrete floor. Boy was I a happy camper (not..!)
It broke the scopes main tube, right in front of the objective, smashed the top scope cap flat with the adjustment dial and just generally scratched and scuffed things up..!
I took it off and was a little disgusted, so I put it in a box to deal with this summer.
I got to thinking the other day and decided to send it to Leupold and get a quote for repair, knowing that a replacement was running around $350.
Got a call today and spoke with a really nice repair tech. She laughed at my candid letter of how the scope was broken and asked if they could use it in an ad..? I laughed and said yes. She told me that the scope was of course destroyed and would need a new main tube at a cost of $101.
I told her that I would definitly want it fixed, as it was cheaper than a new scope. She went on to tell that the M8 series is no longer in production (which I knew, but still had high hopes of repair possibilities..!) so that they were going to send me a new FXII scope instead...!!!
Leupold's warranty has always been great, but I've never needed it before as their products always impress me. Now with this experience, I will continue to shoot with nothing but Leupold scopes. I don't even have another scope manufacturer in my safe and there won't be one...!
