Leupold repairs

as far as I know all 'gold ring' Leupold are still warranty repair, but that is a pretty old vintage discounted model, like 30 years old. forsure got your money's worth out of that old scope ..LOL .
Fix for free ? .. ( real old and discontinued ) they probably ( if you lucky ) just replace with something low-end model like a 3-9 X w/1" tube 200-$ scope maybe ?

My experience has been if they can't fix it, they will offer to replace with anything for 60% off their listed price. Their listed prices are usually a bit over retail, but you can usually upgrade for what works out to be half price of a new one. This has always been a no questions asked deal from them.

Yes, if they cant fix it they will replace it with the newest model. If the newest model is not the same (Mag, obj dia, etc) they will offer something comparable free and you typically come out on the better end.

What others have said, they also told me there's no deniable reason for replacement, my pal had his gun fall over while resting against the bench and busted the objective lens. Called Leupold and they said they don't care how it happened, send it in and we'll fix or replace it....which they did. Ended up sending him a new one.

I have a Leopold M8 6X with a 42mm objective on a 308 carbine I use for Deer hunting, I really like the simplicity of the one power, screw all that knob twisting. ;)

The best way to have this answer is to actually call Leupold and ask them (I've had to do this). But yes, they will repair for free if it's possible to repair. I believe it's a straight replacement with whatever is comparable otherwise.

I just sent a VX-3i 6.5-20x50 Side Focus CDS Target Fine Duplex - SKU#170714 for repair using the web link they have. I did have to create a account and get a RMA number print out from their website.

warranty repair

So I sent the scope off after about 10 days (so within the 7 business days) they logged it in on June 3rd 2025. after receiving it per the Postal system tracking
Just got the notification today (June 11th 2025) that it is now "repaired" and being shipped back to me (IDK if they fixed or replaced yet give it a week and I should be able to update this).
What I did notice with the process is the generational difference, They really didn't like Verbal communication and preferred web/digital methods. Which I understand, but not a fan of, but it did work flawlessly.
Outside the shipping and insurance cost the repair /replacement was free.

Now to send the other older VX-1 4-12x (the magnification turret /ocular is extremely stiff) which I'm pretty sure they will just replace with a newer version.

OK gents a update on the VX-3i 6.5-20x50 Side Focus CDS Target Fine Duplex - SKU#170714 sent for repair.
It arrived today YAY.
They didn't replace the scope instead, they did replace the reticle and erector. In my request I elected against replacement without contact. As I didn't want the "latest and greatest" busy reticle. I prefer the Target Fine Duplex for a 20 power and greater scope. Just a preference.

Although on the VX-I, I will soon be sending in soon I really won't care model reticle close to the same power whatever is easiest will be fine, so I won't be making that election.

Finally got off my duff and sent the VX-I, in yesterday. Let's see what comes back (the fault is power /magnification knob stuck) repaired or replaced with newer model .

Delivered 7 July 2025--- awaiting acknowledgement by Leupold which should be around (week of) the 18th...

Added 7/14/2025-----
Got the email:
"We have received your product and estimate warranty service to be completed in approximately 6 weeks from the date your product arrived"
Now to see if they repair or replace. I'm kind of hoping for the latter, but will be happy with a repair.

I had a leupold SX-2 spotter that internals came apart on me last year. its their lower line of spotters, so I wasnt expecting much in the way of warranties or repairs. I just filled out their warranty info on the website and sent it all in. Even mentioned this all happened while I was hunting, and I tried to salvage the trip by taking it apart and attempting to fix myself in the field....with zero luck.

maybe 2 weeks later, I got a whole new spotter sent my way, no questions asked.

The above listed VX-1 (post #8 - 10) was delivered back today (8/5/2025)
So what was done?
Reworked the power selector ring (works smoothly now)
Replaced the windage and elevation adjustment turret system (still the same friction type which is not a problem to me)
Reworked the Erector system (woohoo a added plus)
And of course they did a complete internal inspection.
Now to mount her and check it out.
