Leupold Scope Color

Awhile back I posted about Leupold scopes offered in different colors. The 05 catalog showed the colors near the back page. A friend sent a new scope back to Leupold to get a color applied. After a month with no word he called them and their reply was we no longer offer that option so we sent your scope to an authorized shop for the service. After a few phone calls he found the scope at Spradlins in Colorado, they had no idea why the scope was sent to them. So for around a $100 they will teflon coat the scope in the color he wants with Leupolds blessing and warranty intact. http://www.spradlins.net/index.html

That is crazy. There is no reason YOU should have to call around to find out where your scope is located. I guess that might have something to do with why Premier Reticles is not working on loopy scopes anymore.

Nothing is wrong with black, as long as that is the color you want it. I think Henry Ford said the same thing. "You can have any color you want as long as it is black" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Well black is ok for many app's. This is for a custom Martini rifle that is very very nice, where a black Leupold looks out of place. I can see where many colors or camo would be nice too. It would be tough to swap scopes on some rifles though.

It's really beginning to sound like Leupold is going deeper and deeper into disarray. They've belligerently ended their business relationship with Premier Reticles--a company which benefitted Leupold in many ways. Now they're even having problems with quality (canted reticles) on some of their Mk 4's.

And this frosts the cake...

The VX-L. Destined to become the Edsel of riflescopes. (Not even debateable, either. So don't try). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif The thing looks like it may have been used to drive at least one nail in a coffin. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I think Bushell has them on the ropes, and they are grabbing at straws...

i sold all my leupolds since there are better scopes now. i was a diehard vari-x III fan for YEARS. 2.5-8X used to be $97.00! that "loopy droopy" is pretty dang funny..........

Maybe that rifle is one of those quick stepping Lazzeroni jobbers... and it was rapid fired and the barrel got really, really hot... and the Leupold says...
