which would yall choose for the 243 wssm.....the Leupold MK IV 4.5-14x50 w/ Ill TMR reticle or the Nightforce 3.5-15x50 (reticle Undecided)? prices on these two seem to be pretty close

If you are using it for hunting predominantly, I would go with the Leupold, assuming that you are going with the M5 turrets. I am a big fan of NF, but they are a heavy scope. With that said, I do sport two of them on hunting guns...I am still a fan of MOA/MOA reticle and adjustments. I think if Leupold would get their stuff together and offer a MOA reticle it would be very beneficial to them.

I would still go with the Leupold. I have had and still own several Mark 4's with M1 and the TMR. A little bit more effort not having the matched adj/reticle, but can be done.

I was always a "Leupold guy" and I though that Leupold was the end all be all. I currently have 3 Mark 4 8.5-25x50's / 3 Mark AR's / and a VXII 4-12x40. I made my first Nightforce purchase last month (NXS 8-32x56 HS ZS np-r1) and I have to say that I am extremely impressed with the quality of the Nightforce. I like it so much that I am considering dumping all of my Leupold products and switching all my optics over to Nightforce.

so pretty much buy the leupold so that i wont buy a NF and like it better and regret having all my leupolds! haha....great.....

That would be a good idea.

Have you ever heard the expression that "you can't put the genie back in the bottle"?
It applies to this situation.

Leupold for me. I bought a 3.5-15X50 NF last year. I never was impressed with the glass or the fact that you need tools and take scope apart to adjust the rheostat in the illuminated reticle. I also never could get the reticle to focus. I kept the NF for 3 months and really tried to like it since I dropped over $1500 on it. I finally swallowed my pride and sold the scope.

This is true as long as you are the original purchaser of the scope. The warranty card that came with mine said so. Leupold on the other hand extends their forever warranty to whomever owns the scope no matter who purchased it.

NF will fix any of their scopes, but it will come with a price tag. I've looked and handles Leupold and Nikon which are good hunting scopes, but once I purchased my own NF I'll never go back. The durability is totally worth the weight IMHO. Turrets are solid, and the reticle is very thin compared to the Leupold TMR my friend has. In my book NF wins, but it costs more. It's up for you to decide now.

I would have to agree with most guys here and get the nightforce, but like some of the guys said, holy crap they are heavy

Yep, don't start something you can't finish. I said years ago I will never drop $1500+ on a scope and I have bought 2 NXS in the last month. And am saving for my third!!

Only reason I went to N/F was because Leupold didn't make the variable powers I wanted . IF Leupold made the high powered variables like N/F does my N/F's would be Leupy's . I use my eqipment but I dont abuse it . I've own Leupy's for 40 years never to have an issue that they didnt resolve which once or twice the damage was my own fault . I wished Leupold would made the higher powered variables 8 x 32 , 12 x 42.
