Levang Linear Compensator

Hey Blue, do they help with the sonic boom 16 inchers are known for? Or, do they help more with recoil/muzzle rise?

I shoot one as well, on a 16" barrel. It helped a LOT!!!
In my opinion, shooting the Levang is like shooting a regular rifle with no FH or comp. JMO.

they seem to do both for me, i notice it more on the muzzle blast than the rise. 16" barrels are great for hunting, and if you happen to be at the range under a canopy, they will create a open space when the other shooters move to get away from you. blue

Have on a CAR15 - 16" of course. Forward facing ports seem to moderate muzzle blast to this SHOOTER..not so sure about those on either side at the range.

That may just be the curse of all short, high velocity rifles.

I probably should note that i shoot very early,(day break) at the range, and i am the only one there most of the time. Except for the deer which are everywhere and who are not in the least bothered by the gunfire, even the very large caliber rifles.

I can only guess that they lost their hearing, but even the young fawns do this, perhaps one of you have the reason this doesn't seem to bother them? blue

I just put one on my new upper for the sound mitigation for me. I did shoot at the range one round without muffs to see what the noise is like and it still rocked the house. I am curious to see if coyotes will respond differently when using it. I have a theory that animals will sense the shock wave and run while others will not. No way to prove it though.

I have one on a 16" barrel and it seems to work well. Sitting beside my wife while she is shooting is much more pleasant since changing from the stock birdcage.

I just shot my new AR in the field, one shot one kill, testing the AR, the new Fury and a new load, with the new Levang. On the delivery end the shot was not loud to me but the report across the valley seemed trememdous, the coyote did not like it either. Not much of a scientific test but all I have... No pics, not fur season yet.

I just ordered one(Levang) to install on a DPMS Sportical upper. I am trying to make a light weight, handy, quieter(to shooter), calling/carry coyote rifle. I hope it works out and the Sportical is a decent upper. TnTnTn

so ? how's your levang working out ?

You know it seems to work ok. The sound is still loud but it seems to be not as brisk nor intense to the shooter. My youngest son killed a nice spike buck at 70 yards-bam flop-with the levang equipped Sportical during youth season. I like it but can't really quantify how much the muzzleblast or noise is reduced. Its under the canopy at the range i can tell the differance, if i take 16" with the levang and the 16" bull with target crown, the levang doesn't rattle the rafters, the bull does. blue

I put one on my AR and was surprised that it didn't help much in the way of recoil. I like to shoot coyotes at 400 and be able to see them drop in the scope. So I took mine down to my machinist and had him cut slits into the sides to line up with each hole. It is louder, but it has almost no recoil. I shot a coyote a couple weeks ago at 360, and then shot his buddy at about 400 and watched both of them tip over. David

Not to hijack the thread, but that's just cool.
