Life expectancy for electronic call

My fox pro inferno finally gave up the ghost and I’m wondering what the typical life expectancy is. I understand that it varies based on how much you hunt and how you treat your equipment

I have yet to have one die but I also don't get out as often as I use to and no where near as much as a lot of y'all.
How long did yours last?

For me the remotes get beat up not the caller. I have e-calls over 15 years old and they still work, I’ve never had one go bad. I seem to wear out the remotes over several years though.

I have a FoxPro fx3 that has been up graded to a fx5. It's 25 years old, I use it about 3 times a month, all day when I go out. That's around 900 uses. It still works fine IF you keep fresh Batteries in it.

I’ve replaced the batteries twice yesterday when it started cracking. I’m thinking about upgrading to a newer call

I've got about 13(?) years on a Shockwave with many, many hours of calling. It's starting to get a soft hum under the main sound, so it might need a little TLC soon.

Amps and speakers can/will take a shat especially when you run em at full volume a lot. I’ve had a couple calls go down over the years but I got a lot of heavy use out of em. Had one remote stop working but got it fixed. Remotes do take a beating.

Yup. I worked in car audio for years and had to explain this to people all the time. Probably the most common response was "I smelled it burning, but I thought that was normal".

My FX3 quit functioning correctly and a speaker was rattling. Sent it in and they fixed everything but the speaker issue. It may have been 5 years old.

Bought my FX3 in about 2004, had to send it in 2018 to replace the speaker, and still using it for coon den calling. Only difference between the FX3 and FX5 is the 5 holds 200 calls and the 3 holds 36 calls.

I had the rechargeable battery pack die in my foxpro hellcat pro after 1.5 years and maybe 15 days of calling. It’s now essentially a paper weight. I religiously kept it charged up when not in use (intermittently every month or so, not left on the charger).
Foxpro is telling me there’s No warranty on the battery pack, which does match their warranty in the manual. I Purchased in 2024, but the battery pack manufacture date is 2021. There’s no corrosion or signs of the batteries getting wet either.

I can’t buy a replacement easily in Canada, so I’m without a call during peak calling season. Ordering one out of the states is possible but shipping price on batteries is insane and takes time. I expected a little better quality than having to replace a battery pack after 1.5 years. They should have never gone away from the trays and ability to just swap out AA’s. In that case I’d go to Walmart, buy some new batteries and be calling again the same day.
