Is there a huge difference between the 140 and the 170? I am guessing that the 170 will drain the battery faster. Any help would be great. Theres only a $20 doller difference so I was thinking of ordering the 170.

Thanks,
Gabe

Battery life all depends on what wattage bulb you have in the 140 and the 170. Other than that, there isnt very much difference between the two lights other than the size of the reflector. With the same bubls, they will draw power the same. Check and see what watt bulbs come with each seperate light to answer you question. You can buy replacement bulbs in different wattages if you are draining your batteries too fast. For just hunting purposes, I prefer the 140 just because of the actual weight of the light. Doesnt wear me out after a whole night of shining. I hope this answers your question!

Thanks for the help, they each come with a 75watt bulb, my buddy has the 140 and we always run it by hand so I dont think weight is much of an issue. The 170 is an extra inch in diameter and 150,000 candle power more. I cant seem to find the actual weight difference.

I have had both of these lights at the same time in the past and after about 3 hours of scanning we have notinced a difference in the weight of the 170 over the 140. The 170 will be the brighter of the two lights and it will have a overall bigger scanning pattern, but it is the heavier of the two. Sometimes having a light with a bigger concentrated beam, not the halo, but the concentrated part just to give you a little more tolerance when looking for eyes. There are pros and cons for both, which is why we have swithed to the magnalights for several different reasons. They have a light that size wise and weight wize is in between the 140 and 170. If you need any info on the lights we use, there is a link on my site you can check them out. I have had every lightforce made just about and we have been more satisfied all around with the magnalight.

Gabe,
I would go with the 170 the extra brightness will come in handy. with the dimmer you can always turn it down if its to bright. I have both and I would give up the 140 before the 170( but you probably couldnt pry either from my hands I love these lights). LOL

I have 2 140's and my partner has the 170 and while were hunting I dont notice any difference between the too. Im pretty pleased with the 140's performance, only trouble I had was with the weak conection inside the cigarette lighter male plug, but I re soldered that.

I think in some cases that the LF 140 comes with a 75 watt bulb wich is 250,000 candle power and if you by the LF 170 with the cigarette connection that it has a 100 watt bulb wich is 530,000 candle power so that makes a little differences depending on what model Light Force you order. Either way they are great lights and get the job done. As far a battery life goes the rheostat will help battery life allot depending on how long you run your light. Also the "Walkabout Packs" come with a LF 170
and a 30 watt bulb set up for that battery pack and it only putts out 320,000 candle power which is allot dimmer then the Lf 170 with the 100 watt bulbs trust me I sold one of these packs because I thought it wasn't bright enough just to find out that it needed a larger watt bulb

The LF 170 with the 75 watt bulb is 400,000 candle power. Now with all this being said I went with the LF 170 with the 100 watt bulb and a I put a rheostat on it and I can always turn it down if the animals is light shy.

maybe thats what i have in mine i bought the walkabout pack 2 years ago and i just can't seem to positively id animal nearly as far out as some people say on here. is there someplace on bulb that will tell wattage?

www.apcalls.com is the best place to buy Lightforce, they are also a sponser here on Predator Masters. They are listed under calling accessories on they're website. Then you have to click on night hunting lights.

I hope this helps.
