Light Weight Ghillie Suite

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a light weight Ghillie Suite. I am 6'5" and weigh in at 280# so I'm not exactally tiny. I want to find a good light weight ghillie suit that I can wear in the summer and with a coat on underneath in the winter.

Does anyone have suggestions of where to look. I've done some research online but they all seem a lot alike to me.

Thanks

Andy

all predator calls sponsor here look into the sapper line foa guy your size the guys here say the 2x is roomy enough. surf this forum for some pics. also boandme his posts have good pics. i hope to get one soon.

APC kill suit will fit your needs.
I am 6' and lean & with the large suit I have tons of room.
I wear it over my camo coveralls which I wear over my street clothes.
My pals weight is like you 260+ & it fits him also, but he is 5'5" short.

not all are alike... i use a multicam roid hood, very light weight, coyote tan front QD clips for quick on/off application, a bit spendy but here are a couple snap shots taken from some video footage... also this hood has short sleeves to keep the long jute, bristle weed, moss hair, stalk grass or natural veg from compiling up in the front shoulder area and down the arms keeping your chest, arms, and forearms free of snags.

I don't know if it's what you would call 'Light Weight', only because I've never had another to use for comparison, but I have a Rancho Safari that I won at the 2010 PM Hunt and, to me, it's light weight...

I can wear it in the Summer and it doesn't seem any heavier than a light wind breaker, but covers me really well and I'm 6-0 and 205#....It fits over my coveralls in colder weather as well..

i got mine from cabelas and it is superlightweight... i actually put it on over my hunting clothes in the winter and in the fall or spring i slide it over my pants and t-shirt with no problems and dont sweat at all. check out my avatar and you'll see it.. i got the face mask and hoodie too..

Rancho Safari suits are very light, and comfortable. They also resist rot and mold if they get wet.

I'm on my second one from APC and I like it. However I view them as somewhat consumable and needing replacement every couple of years due to picking up so many stick tights etc. It is silent and cool in the summer.

Does the Rancho Safari pick up stuff the same as other suits? What's it made of?

HERE is a link to their website and mine looks much like the photo at the top of the page...They have a new one out that has more green in it for Spring/Summer use...

Second pic has the hoods pushed back.
Rancho is the way to go.

Lightweight, comfortable, I drive with mine on. Put it on for first stand and take it off at the end of the day.

No jute or burlap to get wet and stink. Toss mine in the washer if it gets bloody.

Use it for archery, for geese instead of a blind and of course for calling predators. Over a t shirt of insulated Carhart parka.

I don't leave home without it.

Have had coyote arms length and a magpie land on my boot.

redfrog which one is that? the link lists some with burlap/cotton. thats a deal breaker for me. i really liked the cabelas waterfowl ghille, the body was made of decoy bag material but the strips were cotton. when i found out they changed it i was pumped but they just changed the design not the materials.

I order them with no jute or burlap. Comes both ways. Hate the jute.

I sell several of these every year and never a complaint.
Gerry at Rancho is super to deal with as well.

Mine have attached hoods and a separate face mask.

I also use mine in the snow. Stay away from the darker colors. I think mine is called desert and it works on the prairie marsh or in the heavy timber. Everything is not the same color in the field and the darker colors tend to show the human form .
