Lightforce 170 vs 140

How much better is the 170 than the 140 scope light? Allpredatorcalls is a sold out on the 170 but have the 140 Walkabout Kits in stock. Just wondering if i should wait for the 170. There is only about 15 bucks difference in the price between the two models. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
 
I'll be interested in what you find out. I've been going through the same process trying to decide which one.

I've hunted with a gun on my scope for a long time and I wonder if the size of the 170 may not be too big. The 140 is still bigger than the light I'm using but its smaller (about an inch in diameter I think) than the 170. I'm wondering if the difference in light output is significant and is worth the bigger light.

There are some smart guys on this board who know and I want to watch what they say. Good thread.

I have both a 140 hand held and a 170 on a scope mount. I use the 140 for scanning for eyes and the 170 for shooting. Other than the obvious size difference... there is a big difference in the brightness... it is night and day. The 140 seems to have a narrower beam than the 170. I have mine setup to share the same battery by purchasing a y-connector from Radio Shack.
 
Guys, weight is not an issue.. i have the 17o gun mounnted and 170 handheld... I love them...

I would buy the 170 over the 140 for the same reason. The beam is a lot better and you can adjust the power down with the dimmer switch...

140 scope Light puts out 250,000 CWP/75 watt bulb
200 yards with red filter/400 yards with out

170 scope light put out 400,000 cwp/75 watt bulb
250 yards+ with red filter/ 500+ with out

Walkabout 170 puts out 260,000 cwp/Speical 30 watt bulb


The 170 is 150,000 cwp more powerful than the 140/with a 75 watt bulb.......

I have (3) 170 Walkabouts (in Stock)as of 1/16/07

I will have (0) for 170 Night Hunters,more on the way....

my cousin just got the 140 and I have the 170. I like the size of the 140 but I prefer the 170 for the light output. He is using his on an AR and mine is on my 22-250.
 
Well I just ordered a Walkabout 170 unit from Rick.

I purchased the 170 from Allpredatorcall . I had talked with them before Rick made his post and they shipped this after noon. Sorry Rick i had already talked with them before you posted. I got the hunter package. I talked with them yesterday and they got a shippment in this morning, if they hadn't i would have purchased from you but had already commited to them . /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif
 
I have the 170 scope mount,my suggestion is to get the 170.If your having a problem finding the 170 call directly to lightforce they will have it (208)476-9814 and ask for Rick really a great guy.Oiler
 
Ok, ya'll sold me on the 170.

Rick, it looks like you are on the ball over there. I put my order in late last night and according to the UPS tracker you got it shipped out and on its way today for me to have in time for the weekend.
