Lightforce vs. Optronics Nightblaster Max 350

Do any of you have any knowledge of both of these lights and do you have opinions as to which one is better? The Lightforce Night Hunter 170 pack lists for $239.95 in the Allpredatorcalls.com catalog and the Optronics lists for $84.99 in Cabelas.

Thanks!

You get what you pay for!! Lightforce is the best on the market hands down. For the actual lights I believe the lightforce 170 is around 100, the pack has the battery and dimmer. Well worth it if you need a portable light, plus the dimmer is a great feature to have. So basically the best light on the market is 10 bucks more than the others. Sounds like a no brainer to me.

Rick will be able to give you more specifics on pricing and such.

I started with the Optronics and used it for one night. It was way too limiting for me to enjoy hunting. It had little if no distance, it was dim and really did not reach out as far as I would have liked. I did manage to call in one bobcat while using it. I sold the bobcat hide the next day and ordered my Lightforce. It is hands down far superior to the optronics. Can you use the Opts. and be ok? Sure, but why limit yourself. Also I never realized how handy a good spotlight can be. I have used mine for hunting, camping, working on trucks(both in my drive and out of town), as a night light(set down to low power) when we brought my baby home and lost power. I have used it when retriving game at night..... If you have the money, buy the good spotlight. Also figure on adding the wall charging unit to the pack. I think it is like $60 more, but it allows you to plug in the battery and let it be until you need it without over charging the battery.

What the first three guys told you above......
We just got to use lights starting in January here in Minnesota so I cant wait...
I read alot here on the board and I decide when Minnesota passed the light law I would get a lightforce...
I called RickH2 and advertiser here on PM and got the info I needed..a great guy to deal with.....I ordered a 170 walkabout because we can only use hand helds here in Minnesota...
When my light came I took it out side to try it and it was more the I expected....So save and get a good one the first time its worth it...get the wall mount charger also......stump

Mine's been ordered and I look forward to trying it. We open up on October 1st /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have both. I used the Optronics for 2 years and gave it up after I bought a Lightforce. My experience has shown that I missed more fox because of the Optronics dying out just as I was sighting in after 4-5 stands. Then I had to change batteries........ This has never happened with the Lightforce because of the dimmer feature........it's worth the money.......get a Lightforce..........

If only I got my lightforce hat before I purchased the Optronics.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

Given what I know now I would have gone with the Lightforce scope mount for a few $$$ more than the Optronics. The Optronics which I cant leave on for long because it heats up the red lens cover that I am afraid will melt and does not have a dimmer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

If you want a good deal on an Optronics let me know. I might be tempted to sell mine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Thanks for the replies/opinions. Would anyone like to buy an Optronics Nightblaster Max 350 with extra battery? Bought it last year before hearing of the Lightforce. . . .just my luck.

Rick, do you take trade-ins? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Nebraska Coyote Hunter:
Me, too. Used the NB for a year before I heard of the Lightforce and bought one from Rick (great guy to deal with); now my NB is gathering dust. It does serve as a loaner for my hunting buddies that do not have a light, but there is absolutely no comparison between the two. The 170 gets at least twice the range of the NB 350 and the dimmer is great!

Regards,
hm

I have a nightblaster 100yd. I have a nightblaster 250yd. I have never used a Lightforce before. I want to use a Lightforce. I wish I had a lightforce. If Ive learned anything from this web site is that I need a lightforce. One problem........no money!

I've been playing with the lightforce that arrived on my step last week. As Stump says, we can just now start night hunting with lights in Minnesota. The lightforce appears to be a wonderful product. I can really see where the dimmer switch will be a great asset for a portable light. The light it's self is very light. Anyone who has swung a light all night long knows that it's important to have a light that won't wear down your arm after one stand. I have a bit of concern with the lightweight product in the extreme cold though. My experience with light weight plastic in -20 degrees is that they become very fragile. Although I know many people use them in the cold and I've never heard of anyone breaking their light because of hunting in cold temps.

I'll be doing some seminars this winter trying to teach fellow Minnesotans how to use lights. I intend to push both the lightforce spotlight and ultrastinger flashlight. Both appear to be A #1 products.

The only one written in stone so far is in Parkers Prairie at the Shooting Sports Outlet store on Hwy 29 2 miles south of town. It starts at 1PM on Saturday Dec 16th and we are expecting a huge crowd so I'd suggest getting there early.

There are others around the state that are trying to work out a schedule. I should know those in a week or so.
