Lightforce

I am going to break down and finally buy a lightforce light. I am thinking scope mounted but would like some input from the guys here and also the best place to buy from.

I will be hunting with a partner whenever we are out night hunting. I have a 2mcp light but am a little confused as to how some of these companies are claiming light output. I cannot identify things at the distances lightforce is claiming there 500,000mcp light can and mine is claiming 4x the light output.

Are you going to be hunting alone? The rifle mounted light is difficult to hold onto and swing if you're going to be hunting with someone.

I hunt alone most of the time. We can't have a gun or scope mounted light here in Pa. anytime.... I devised a way to scan and then place the light under my gun. I'll send a few pictures over a bit later tonight....

Just a couple words from this part of the country for you, LWILLIAMS . . . I own the Lightforce 170 with the scope mount and absolutely love it. I believe it is "only" 400,000 CP, but the CP doesn't matter as much as the way the light is built. My younger brother brought a 2 Mil CP Nightblaster out here a few winters ago and it doesn't hold a candle to my Lightforce (no pun intended). We also compared the Lightforce to several other spotlights, including two from Western Rivers - their cheapest model and their most expensive model - it was no comparison. IN fact, the other spotlights all sit in a box and collect dust. When I first received my Lightforce I was absolutely amazed at the distance the focused beam would shine. Another huge benefit to the Lightforce is the ability to concentrate the light into a tight cone so you're not splashing light all over creation. I practiced with the Lightforce from my pickup by finding rabbits and then holding the light on the rabbit, sliding the gun into position and then attaching the light to the scope - bang. If I had to, I could hunt alone with it - - - but I'm afraid of the dark so I always have someone with me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif. Let me just say one last thing - once you own the Lightforce, you'll never buy another spotlight.

Thank you everyone for replying. I have been in contact with Rick and he has answered my questions. I have a catalog on the way and shortly after it arrives I will be ordering my Lightforce.

Yes we can. From the Michigan DNR website...http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10363_10880-31621--,00.html
"Only lights similar to the type ordinarily held in the hand or on the person may be used. An artificial light, including laser sights, of the type ordinarily held in the hand or on the person may be mounted on a person's clothing or firearm"
