Does anyone have load data for the Barnes 70 gr TSX bullet in .223 Remington? I have worked out the seating depth to magazine length, but need some load data for this round. Any help would be appreciated. Anyone had any success with accuracy in this bullet and weight?

Thanks

Never played with the 70. I have shot the 53 and 62.

I am getting 3650 with the 53 and 3400 with the 62 in a 223AI. I am going to run with the 62 this season.

I would like to hear your results (velocity wise) on the 70 though.

70gr is the upper limit for WW748 but it does work well with some 70gr bullets. Don't even think about using it with bullets heavier than 70gr.

I have had much success recently using Varget and a 75gr HPBT. 23.1 grains seems to be the magic number for me, with the first pressure signs starting to occur at 23.5 grains. This is in my 20" 1:8 AR. If shooting a similar barrel, you should be perfectly safe using Varget under the 70gr Barnes and working your way up from about 22.8 grains.

Thanks Bandit,

I actually am working on this load for a 1 in 8 20 inch Dtech AR15 and have a jug of Varget setting there to work with. That is perfect info. Where did you get that info, was it from Barnes or did you use starting loads from another similar bullet? I have the Barnes manual, and they say to use the load data from the older X bullets for the new TSX of similar weight, but there is no 70 gr bullet listed for the .223 and there is no .223 data for the TSX on their website. I have e-mailed them, but not heard back yet.

Totch,
I got my info based on the 77gr Matchking. Started with light loads of Varget, working my way up and just simply got lucky on the combo.
