lohman/circe She Howler! opinion/review

I stated my opinion of this call without having used the call and varmit hunter/ Ronnie Robison, designer of the call, sent me one free of charge.
First and foremost this call is designed to do a fast and easy duplication of the estrus chirps of the female coyote. This call is not a one-trick pony. It is capable of much, much more. What follows is from the private message I sent to Ronnie earlier today. it'll just be easier to cut and paste it than write an entirely new one. I felt like writing a review.
My first impression of the call was that it is smaller than I thought it would be, reed and call body. I for some reason pictured something a bit larger. I was happy to see the small body size, as I really don't like longer, larger calls. I opened the package and handled the call. It felt good in the hand, with my thumb and pointer finger at the lanyard groove, my ring finger and pinky fell over the end easily. I like this, as I find it is easier to manipulate sounds. When I put the call in my mouth it felt a little odd. I found the factory edges a bit sharp and the tip of the tone board was a little square for my taste. I personally like rounded edges. Some people like the square, i'm a rounded guy. It just works better for me. So when I got into the house I rounded the edges and end with an emery board. A minute later it was more to my liking. I do this with a lot of factory calls, so I am more comfortable with it. I only file the edges and bottom so as to not mess with the integrity of the slope or pitch of the tone board.
I did blow the call in the car on the way back from the mailbox and found it a bit tough to blow. It could have been trying to drive and use the call at the same time or i just needed to get used to the call. After filing the edges it blew much easier for me. It took a few minutes to figure out what angle worked best for blowing the call and after that it was like riding a bike.
I found that moderate air worked best for howls and chirps even less for rabbit distress, pup distress and puppy whines. Even with moderate to low air the call is surprisingly loud. I found that there was minimal movement of the teeth or lips required to change pitch, which I like. The sounds I can get are good; it will take a little more work on my part to get them where they need to be. The chirps, which it is made for, are great. The chirps were the easiest to get down along with puppy whines and pup distress. It’s very easy to get a good vibrato at the beginning and end of a howl. A cottontail distress may take some work on my part but the jackrabbit and other assorted distress sounds were a snap. All in all it is a great call. The chirps, puppy whines and pup howls make it a big winner in my book. I’d recommend it to anyone. Although, I don't think it's a good beginner's call. For some reason I think if it were your first howler you might get frustrated a little bit, like anything it just takes a little time to figure out what works. It is a great call and thank you very much! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
as i say this is my opinion and should be interpreted as such. thank you ronnie.

No pics? No sound files? No brand name? How can we judge our opinion of your opinion? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif Did I miss something?

if you go down a few threads and look under She Howler you will find the origin of this post.
i just thought it would be fun to write a review of a call. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif in the member's clubhouse there was a discussion of the lack of average joe's writing in hunting magazines and how more people would like to see articles by average guys. well, here you go. an average joe writing a review of a call. kinda dorky. okay very dorky, i know, but it was fun. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
posting sounds is like pulling teeth. recording them is easy enough but finding a host for the sounds is a huge pain in the a$$. anyway i'd probably have to get permission from varmit hunter to post the sounds.
pics can be found on allpredatorcalls.com. kolpin outdoors, owners of lohman/ circe, doesn't have pics on their website.

i didn't take it as prickish at all. you made a good point and i should have clarified it a little better. it's my first review and first day on the job. rookie mistake! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks for the review Smithers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
