Long shot kinda day

Went on a 7 mile walk this morning and found a honey hole of coyotes. Saw 10 coyotes in about 3 hours but they wanted nothing to do with the call. I did manage to get 1 fired up but it wouldn’t come in. Had to make a quick stalk on it before getting pegged at 605 yards. I ended up shooting it but should have held a touch more wind.

Gave one a haircut at 827 yards. The wind was tricky today and making a solid wind call proved to be challenging.

I did get to test out my new bipod (MDT Triple Pull) and that thing is solid. I’m probably ditching the tripod for day time calling.

The most impressive thing on the day was getting my Foxpro remote to work at 487 yards! Granted it was a straight line of sight, I’m pretty impressed with that range.

I have a person that is a local guy that says he kills them all the time at 600 yards at night with a thermal I said bs. He also said he took a guy out and that guy killed one at 800 yards at night I called bs on that one also. Who knows I might be wrong but they would have to prove it to me.

That’s a stretch. I’m going to take my new thermal out and see if I can hit steel at those yardages. My thermal rifle shoots a 53 vmax so the wind will be even more tricky with that rig.
