Long Tail Cats in Texas

Hey fellas, I am brand new here and pretty new to the sport. I hunt near Carrizo Springs, TX and we have 3-4 mountain lions roaming the property. I want to hunt one so badly but they wont come to a call. I get a bunch of bobcats and yotes but the only time I see the big cat is when I am riding around and he is usually hauling butt across the road and doesn't provide a shot. This is heavy brush country so he would have to be hunted in one of the senderos. Do yall have any ideas on how to lure this cat in?

No experience with mountain lions, but from everything that I have heard : deer decoy and fawn distress,
That being said, even though your plant life is different from mine we have the same problem. THICK brush with a single line of sight cutting through it. Cats tend to sit and watch. You could be calling for an hour, and it could be sitting there for 45 minutes of it and you never see him because he didn't stalk out into the senderro. My personal suggestion would be- hang a Mojo critter from a limb at about 5-6 feet. Place your caller in the tree too. That way he is not stalking a critter on the ground (which requires more stealth). He is plucking fresh fruit (think chicken) from a tree. He'll be more likely to walk under it giving you a better and longer shot.....
If I were closer I would volunteer to come help you in a heart beat.

They respond to calls. Just takes a slight adjustment in tactics.

Incorporating vocals is one of the most powerful tools you can use, but approach and set-up are critical for Lions.

Write or call anytime, I love talkin' Cougar!
