Longest range Cree led flashlight for scanning and shooting

I have been looking for a scanning and shooting light upgrade for my night hunting and found these Cree flashlights from deal extreme as a possible alternative to the more expensive Kill lights. my question is have any of you found a Cree light that is comparable to the kill light 250's maximum range?
 
the recoil, and the ultrafire that looks identicle to the kill light with the shiny reflector.....and the 500 and 800 lumin adjustable fisheye lense light on ebay...

get the ones that take the 18650 batteries...superbright...and the beam stays tight...no problems with these lights...

there is a led light thread somewhere around here...

Just remember that there is no magic LED light - they are all using the same general LEDs made by Cree, PHilips Luxeon, etc. There are things beyond the LED that can affect performance, including the soldering job, heat sink, "driver", etc. "Orange peel" style reflectors generally provide more "flood" and smooth, shiny reflectors provide more "spot" or focused beams.

I have been happy with several of the LED flashlights I bought from DX, but use only the red LED ones for scanning/shooting.

is the style of reflector and amount of lumen what ultimately decides how far a beam will have the ability to shine?
 
The reflector size and design is important to throw (lux, not lumens). The larger, deeper, and smooth reflectors give the most throw (how far the beam will shine). The lumens (overall light going everywhere, not directed to any particular spot) has little to do with throw. The size of the LED is important to throw (smaller LED size, the better). For Cree brand LEDs, the smaller XR-E type throws farther than the XP-E and larger XP-G,and XM-L types. But the XR-E puts out less lumens than the larger XP-G and XM-L type LEDs.
LEDs use a driver to govern the amps delivered from the battery to the LED. The driver board that can provide the most amps without burning up the LED can give you more lumens and more lux (and use up the battery charge quicker).
LEDs driven hard will produce heat. It is good to have this heat transferred into the body of the flashlight, so the LED itself won't overheat and burn up (and reduce its output). So flashlight designs for "heat sinking" allow the LED itself to not overheat (but the flashlight body will feel warmer to you).

Take a look at the DealExtreme Uniquefire HS-802
 
i got 2 802's also...had it right along the kill light...its the same if you ask me...but with the amber gel its alot tighter than the red kill light...i think all the red leds throw alot of flood for some reason...

there might be something to that. The way the red light works off the reflector.
 
Anyone looking for a good deal on moutable lights cheap,,if you have a menards near you,,i just bought 2 guidesman cre lights 180 lumen 2 pack on clearance for 13.99,,5 position push rear switch,front adjustment and power low indicator in the tail.......They have a focasable beam ,good for 100 plus yards...............X

Those are nice little lights. I think I could probably shoot out to around 100 yards with mine. They sold out of them here a couple months ago but had them back in stock the other day.

Happy are you using the DJ gel on this DX light or did you find replacement led's for the HS-802?
