Oh PS this is for a .22 Mag

At least 3x9! I found in Search Found Nikko Sterling Diamond 3x9x42 w/ #4 Illuminated Dot. I guess Dan had got one earlyer this year.

Nikko is junk IMO. Muellers are fragile, IMO. I guess they may be okay on rimfires that don't get banged around much.

Now a Sightron, that would be worth a look.

Weaver V16 comes in a target dot and you can pick them up used for a good price, but that kinda seems like a lot of scope that rifle. Maybe not though, my bud has one on a 17 HMR and I have a KT15 on a custom 10/22........

Quote:Muellers are fragile....Sorry, but I have to disagree with that appraisal...Several years ago I bought one of the Mueller 2-7x illuminated Multi-Shot scopes for use in action competitions where the empty rifle has to be literally dumped in safety barrels at the end of that part of a stage before going to another weapon...

I don't think there is any way that you would consider that type of action as being gentle, not to mention the general banging around that they get from shooting over, under, and beside barricades...It still holds a zero, is clear, and functions as new...I think they were originally designed for use on shotguns and the reticle makes rapid target acquisition very easy....

Mullers are notorious for coming apart on larger caliber rifles. They may be fine on rimfires and 223s.

What caliber rifle do you have a Mueller on?

They are a Michigan based company. I see LOTS of them. Their reputation in these parts is well defined. "Rimfires and 223 scopes."

I know 2 local dealers who stopped carrying them. Mueller APV, which was/is their top seller could not stand up to recoil well.

Check out these ads. They say "designed for small caliber rifles", even though that is not really the case. They just can't hang with larger ones without coming apart, hence the "warning".......

So tell me why you suppose Mueller makes no such claim about said scopes on their website, yet 2 of their largest dealers clearly do?

I'd be curious to see how the Sterlings are.

BSA platnum target scope 6-24x44 comes with the 1/8" dot & target dials under $150 most of the time. If you can find one of the earlier Japan made scope its the best of them.
