Looking for answers on Sam Yang big bore air rifles

I want to purchase a Sam Yang 909 44 light and have several questions on it. Yang has remodeled it with the 909s, a sigle tubed version of which has a little more power but doesnt seem to hold air pressure for better grouping from what I have have read. I am courious if I should get the new model or the old. I see the manual pumps run around $250. Is there a cheaper option? How many times do you have to pump it to get to 3000 fpe? I have read about different air adaptors. Why would I need to upgrade from the factory adaptor? The end of the barrel is threaded, why? Is this for the addition of a silencer or supressor? I figured this would make a fun, close range, quiet coyote rifle and quiet back yard plinker with a supressor.

Airgun for coyotes? Hmmm... (maybe there IS a situation that a .17 HMR would be better.) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I'm just kidding around guys....don't bring out the noose just yet... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think from your questions, you might better call the maufacturer and ask them the technical stuuf. I'm sure you would get better response, unless I miss my guess at how many of us on here use airguns for coyotes...

Good luck in your quest! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Your post seems to be saying 3000 ft lbs of energy (3000fpe). Most barrel cocking airguns top out at about 30ft lbs, the more exotic pre charged from what I've seen can go to a few hundred ft lbs but nowhere near even a thousand.

As an edit, I just looked a Pyramid Air's website and they listed a top end of just under 200ft lbs of energy. That's a firearm by any standard and far more potent than a .22LR to be sure due to the bore size. Still, I'd prefer something more powerful to be a clean killer on a yodel dog. Don

200 foot pounds of engergy has been acheived with this gun. check out the big game hunting forum section. Deer have been harvested with these guns at a 100 plus yards. They shoot 45 cal pistol bullets around 800 fps. The air chamber thats under the barrel stores 3000 Fpe for a total of 10 shots before refilling.
