Looking for input on a Tasco World Class 3x9x40 with the Vital Zone Retical. I am putting together a budget gun and am looking for a reasonably cheap scope. They have the lifetime warranty, and are now owned and ran by Bushnell. What is your guys' take?

go natchez shooters supply and look at the weaver Nitrex TR Two, i just ordered a 2-10x50 with EBX reticle (nice reticle IMO)

Scope was originally $500 some, marked down to $259, with an additional rebate of $100 (thats $159 total for the scope) from Nitrex when purchased through natchez! still haven't gotten the scope but heard good things about it for the price.

Other than that, i've had tasco scopes and not a fan. I'd spend a little more and at least look at the Redfield Revolution scopes, or a used Nikon Buckmaster

A M E N! Bought one. Don't think I'd ever make that mistake again.

+ 1. I bought one for my .223 Stevens and I wished I would bought something else. The outer edge of the scope is blurry. The adjustments aren't correct at 100 yards. Just disappointing. My BSA scope is better at half the price. Won't buy another tasco

I bought a Tasco World Class 3X9X40 about 25 years ago. I suspect it is a lot better glass than what they are making today. For years I used it on my deer rifle and it was dropped out of a tree, hauled around in a pickup all the time, and never once lost it's zero. Today it is on a black powder rifle, and is still a very good scope. Having said that, I wouldn't waste my money on a Tasco scope today, but some of the older onws weren't bad scopes.

If you want a cheap setup than by all means go with the Tasco, but remember you will still have a cheap setup so don't complain later.

+ 1 on the redfeild

I am not a fan of the tasco's either. I would look into the redfeild revolution. They usually run around $130 for the 3-9x40. They are in my opinion a really good scope for the price. Lifetime warranty and now made by leupold

well, i still have 2 of the jap made tasco's from the mid to late 80's models and i do not plan on getting rid of them...they are just that good. one of them is a 24x that is still on my benchgun. just stay away from current production tasco's....p.o.s.

+1 I've seen tasco's come out of the box with crooked reticles. They make ok paperweights... or small clubs.

I have an older Jap Tasco 6-24x40AO WC Plus, I would sell. It is not the same as the non-Jap Tascos. MUCH higher quality. PM me if interested......

Very first scope I bought as an adult was a 'world class', recommended to me by the glass guy at Cabellas. It lasted 2 seasons on my 30-06, maybe 50 rounds a year before it wouldn't hold zero. Moved it to progessively lighter calibers until it failed to hold zero on them. It finally ended up on a 10/22. While sighting it in the entire reticle canted 45 degrees. After that I used it to make sure the iron sites were on and went squirrel hunting, (taking an afternoon break during an OK pig hunt).

Best use for it IMO.

Tasco doesn't make scopes, never have as far as I know. ALL they do is buy garbage and brand it before it's blister packed. Just like NCstar and sometimes you get a usable piece out of luck.

OTOH, I've been buying redfields for my 'budget' stuff lately. Clarity and quality are on par with my loopy vx1 and with the same warranty. For $130 on midway I recommend them without qualm.

I just wish they made higher magnification. My .223 bolt could use better glass in the 6-24 range than its wearing now.
