Hi all, I've been attempting to call coyote for the past year, unsuccessfully I might add. Once I THINK I saw two run past about 60 MPH in the thick woods. I've used my JS612 as well as hand calls with no luck. I'm looking for somone I can go with once or twice to learn what I'm doing wrong. I appreciate any replies and you can email me at marknnita@earthlink.net. Thanks

Hi keekeeyelp, I just got in the office and was checking the board. I'll look at the map today and find out how far I am from you. At this point I would drive to Texas for some good pointers! Thanks

I looked at the Ohio map. Lawrence County is not terribly far from Adams County. The next county East of me is Scioto County and then Yours. Probably no more than 1 1/2 hours. I would like the opportunity to hunt together as soon as you were able. Thanks

Hey keekee, you need to get across the river. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Sunday I drove across highway 64. Just above Ashland there were 4 dead yotes on the road in a 2 mile stretch.

crablegs 2 weekends ago me and keekee hunted up and down 64 around the industial park hunted all weekend and didnt call in squat. then this past weekend hunted ohio and called in 3 fox and 3 yotes.

WMR,
Your welcome to come hunt with us anytime! I usualy hunt Sat nights or Sundays, For now im working about every Saterday. That should change in the next three weeks or so. So just drop me a line.

Crablegs,

What part of 64 was that? I been calling that area some but havent had much luck! I just got permishion into the back side of some of that area, going to check it out soon. We called over there a couple weeks ago and didnt do any good, lots of people out and about! I hope things calm down in the woods over there soon, we did call four guys in on horse back! Does that count?

Kee

Actually I guess it would be below Ashland as the river flows. Between Hwy23 and 60.

Don't feel bad, I called in 4 donkeys New years Day. A personal best for me. My previous record was 2 donkeys on 1 stand. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I live in Muskingum County (around Zanesville) and am just getting into coyote hunting.

Can you give me an example of a typical set up. I know that I am in an area with coyotes, but have had no success so far. I am using a CH1 Howler and a rabbit in distress call. Give me an example of a typical hunt with no coyote located and with one located.

Also, I have been trying to locate strictly through howling. How many times do you howl to locate? How often? Are there any other ways to locate?

Thanks guys.

Ruttin Buck - I live in Winchester, about 5 miles north of West Union. What made you leave Adams County? I do a lot of catfising on the river down in Manchester. Good to hear from you.

Hey Guys,

I'm new to hunting in Ohio. Ive hunted predators in Texas for years now, and Ive recently moved to Toledo in North west Ohio. If you ever get a chance to hunt in this area let me know and maybe we can hookup. I got to know several hunters in West Texas, and it was hard to leave that area just for that reason.(you would not believe the amount of critters in that area). Ive got leased land and family land in Arkansas for deer, duck and predator, along with open invites in Texas, but I havent had time to check out any of Ohio just yet. Let me know if youve got any pointers.

WMR,

I joined the military in 1987. I still make it Home (Manchester) 2 or 3 times a year. I just spent christmas there and Killed a nice Buck with a Muzzleloader. How old are you? I bet we know alot of the same people.

Hi Ruttin Buck -

Sounds like I'm a little older than you. I'm 45. I didn't move to Adams County until 1994 so we don't know many originals. Congratulations on the nice buck! I managed to get a little 7 pointer in November with the bow. Spent three days during muzzleloading season and didn't even see a deer. Oh well, that how it goes. Good to hear from you and take care. Mark

I’m in NKy , I have tried calling and not had much luck , they are tough to call at least for me . I see most near expressway road sides . Just where you can’t shoot them .
