a land owner i hunt on asked if i would look at his old 22 to see if i could get it to shoot.
its a wards western field mod 87
semi auto
the action wouldnt open more that 1/4 the way,so i took off the stock and there were 2 shells jamed between the tube magizen and the action.
easy fix and a BADLY needed cleaning and its back in working order.
but... no front sight.
i have no idea how old the gun is and hes an old fart and cant remember when he got it,plus it was used.
its a dove tail slot and prolly got lost somwhere along the way(as rusty as the rest of it was i figured it would of been seize in there forever)
if anyone has an idea where to look or has a box of junk parts,it would sure help me out.

I have the Jack first catalogs. I'll look this evening when I go out to the shop. You might try a google search as well. I think there's another company that deals in absolete gun parts, can't think of the name right now, but it starts w/ a "W".

BTW where are you in SE Ks? I grew up in northern GW county.

I'll have to check my references, but I'm almost certain that rifle was made by Savage or possibly Mossberg and there should be a model by them as well. I'll see what I can dig up.

If you use a micrometer to measure the dovetail, you should be able to find a sight for it through Brownells or a similar sight.

I have a "spare parts" box (in fact, I have two of them), and I have a front sight that fits in a dovetail slot, but I have no idea what the sight came off of. If you take some measurements and this one is even close, I'll send it to you to try.

I don't always check back on threads, depending on time, so send me a PM with the measurements. Using my reloading caliper, this one measures ~.2" front to back at the widest part of the dovetail.

If you think it'll fit, PM me your address and I'll send it to you.

Daryl
