Looking for reduced load data for 375 and 300 RUM

I want to download both for reduced recoil. Where can I find data for something equal to level one on the 300 and something In the 200-235 grain bullet offerings for the 375? I would like to find data for the 300 that I could run a 180g core-loct at 30-06 velocities.

I don't see anything on the Hodgdon site with H4895 powder, which is easy with the '60% rule'.

You could just use the minimum charge listed with one of the faster powders you have on hand, cross referencing a few manuals.

The Lee manual has a fair amount on reduced loads, but maybe not with those rounds.

Besides getting reading for another hunt or so, the easiest way would be to use that 308 or 30-06 you may have on hand. Not to be a smarty. A regular Google search brings up a few options, some may be out of the realm of 'reputable data'. In that search there are tales of whoa where things went wrong.

I do think you could get there with a modest charge of a faster rifle powder, but it may take some evaluation.

I'll call hodgdon tomorrow which is what I normally do. I've googled enough in the last couple of days and didnt find anything that looked trustworthy. I have kdf brakes on both but just want to download them for 150 yard and under whitetail loads. Getting rid of the rifles is not an option. I just want to find some loads that won't blow me out of my tree stand and to make the rifles more versatile. There isn't much kick outta the 300 the way it is wth the brake but I would like to remove it and save my ears along with downloading

As good of an excuse for more rifles as I can think of. I used that excuse for my 300 weatherby for years until I bought another one. My wife hunts and shoots with me so she picked up on that right away. As soon as I bought it she asked me what my plan was now that I had come full circle from 300 to 204 back to 300. I sure am glad that she understands that I need 1 more.

So I called hodgdon and Aliant powder companies today and pretty much got nowhere. Aliant didn't recommend and low velocity loads and and hodgdon said the only powder they said to try was trail boss. They said to fill the case to where the bullet would seat and I could reduce the amount by 30 percent.

So what I don't get is where or what powders are being used for Remington's level one loads.

I found an article on real guns.com for the 375 rum using a 225 g hornady with 55 g of imr3031 saying it has a muzzle velocity of 2200 fps. Well 55g is under the 75% capacity...would that not result in high pressures? My plan was to develop a load with the Speer 235g around 2600-2700 muzzel velocity since it was the only light load bullet I could find. The hornady 225g,Sierra 200g, and Speer 235g are non existent...I would assume whiskey co. Has been burning through them developing AR loads.

So...I've done a little research on my own and did some reading on trail boss which sounds too slow for what I would like to accomplish. I read about H4895 and that I could start out at 60 percent from my bullets max recommended capacity...which is still going to be too low of a velocity from what I've read and don't want to have any hang fires besides. My goal is to run approx 2600fps with a 235g bullet out of my 375 rum...06' velocities. My max load is 91g. Which should be approx 3000fps. Min listed load was 86g at 2800fps. So every 5g drops approx 200fps. With this info 71g should get me to the velocity I would like to achieve and still put me at 78% capacity. (Which is still a safe capacity correct?) I don't see any listings for the RUM with this powder but there is a listing for it in the 375 Weatherby. If I went down to 60% it calculates to 54.6 g. I don't want too slow of a load but a marginal, tolerable mid range/recoil load. Do my calculations sound correct? If so I'm going to load up and head to the range with my chronograph.

This is just a guess, but you might try working backwards from AA 8700 data. That stuff burns about as fast as torn up newspaper anyway, and it might get you to where you want to go. But I would get hold of the folks at Western Powders first and ask them about whether you could do it or not. SEE is a real thing, and it happens with slow powders!
