Looking for Rem 700 Detachable magazine suggestions

I have a great Remington LTR in .308 that I love to shoot. I would really like to change the bottom metal to a detachable magazine setup. I know there's HS precision (if you can find it) and Badger ordnance versions as the most often used. I inquired with a normally very reputable Rem 700 Smith about having him install one of these and was surprised to hear him say that he felt those were "mickey mouse" setups and didn't feel they were worth the expense or trouble.

So... Anyone out there with first hand experience, feedback, or suggestions to help a feller out??

Have you checked out the one Brownell's sells? It's made for the Remington's and looked pretty substantial to me.
 
If GA precision is fine with Badger ordnance I can't imagine any issues with it. Being that system comes with Pillars I wonder if smith' installation is required?

Still surprised any smith would say the badger system is not very good.

Anyone used or installed the badger or HS?
 
I am in the process of selling the rifle below. It has an LTR HS Precision stock with aluminum bedding block, detachable SS magazine, the bottom metal is blue. The magazine is for a 308 short action. The stock is refinished professionally with Duracoat scale effect.

I am contemplating parting out the rifle and may be interested in trading the stocks and bottom metal with you IF the price difference in my favor is right? Make me an offer I can't refuse!

I have a HSP in my 7mm AM, and its a capable, fully functional unit. 220.00 doesn't buy a mickey mouse unit, find another smith is my advise.

It's good to hear personal experience with the HSP. If I can find one, I'm sure I could order it and if for some reason it did not meet expectations, send it back! Definitely interested in perfect performance.
