Lower Receiver Quality

Any thoughts on the quality of Essential or Superior lowers? I'm putting together a J&T kit and would like to get a well machined lower that has a finish that is compatible with the kit...and want to pay the lowest price possible. Most importantly, the pin holes, etc. need to match up.
I'm strongly considering a Stag lower, but wondered if it is possible to go a little cheaper and still get what I need.

Don't know on the Essential and Superior lowers, but have used both stag and mega machine lowers with great fit and finish.

Very sweet!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Does it shoot as good as it looks? What did you think of the quality of the J&T kit?

I built mine with a Superior Arms lower and am pleased with the fit and finish. Has worked great with Bushy and Oly uppers.

Which finish did you get on the Essential lower?

Sorry for the rapid fire questions, there's way too many choices on AR's...kinda like 1911's. It's nice to have all the options, but it makes things complicated. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

All the above mentioned lowers are fine. I have used Essential Arms, Stag and DPMS with no problems.

Pay close attention to the trigger that goes into that lower /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Thats the key.

Oly 20" SUM broach cut rifleing, 1-10" twist, 223 cal.
Really shoots great, just to heavy for packing while calling.

Bushy 20" A3, railed forend, chopped front site, don't know how it groups cause I got it, scoped it, started plinking here @ home, got it hitting where I wanted and went hunting. Probably the first gun that I haven't papered before using. Shoots popcans at around 150 yds.

I put a Chip MCCormick single stage match trigger in my Superior lower and believe it makes way more difference than about anything else on how you can shoot the rifle.
Just about matches the triggers in most my hunting bolt guns.

I bought 2 superior arms lowers with A2 stocks and complete with DPMS parts kits in them. The fit to the DPMS 20" varmint upper is excellant, and extremly tight, infact better than some bushmaster complete guns I have seen, total cost of the gun without shipping was $630, complete. no used parts all new, makes me laugh when I see people selling DPMS or other rifles for $8-900, this gun shoots 4 shot groups into .5"

Roger on the trigger. I despised the trigger on the M16A1. I guess military trigger's OK for a combat rifle...more panic proof. But, they don't suit me on a hunting rifle. Never fired a two stage, so I thought I'd stick with the single stage. I've been looking at JP's and Chip McCormicks. Sounds like Clayman likes his McCormick. I like their 1911 stuff. Any thoughts on the JP?

Hey Steve,
How heavy is your rifle? I really like AR's, but I don't want a heavy rifle. Sounds like an inexpensive way to go, too.

J&T kits are first rate! I'm using a JP Rifles single stage trigger on this rifle.

Accuracy? How's this for a 100 yard group?
