Packed up the truck, get to my spot at 8pm, grab my gear.....realized I forgot my rifle...awesome. Head back home, grabbed the gun and headed back out. With all the snow melt, the area im in is soaked...soppy field all the way back. Would have had to cross 8" of water (wasnt exactly dressed for this scenario) to get where I really needed to be. Instead, sat against some hay bails, with my head/shouoders silhouetted. Set up tripod, call and hit it. 20 min later, triple comes in. Get excited, point, and pull the trigger on an atrocious, embarrassing shot. Pup distress kicks in, the three dogs stick around and end up getting a 34# female and 39# male. First blood with the new rifle. Accurate enough, but, but the actions is ROUGH amd will take some getting used to (which you can hear after my second shot).

That a Ruger? My actions were a little tight to begin with so I sat in the recliner one night watching a TV show and load mag and cycle, load mag and cycle for about 20 times, lol. They’re all smooth as butter now.
Great shooting on the last two shots! If you’re like me, you get excited because we don’t get many opportunities, lol!!
