Well it looks like I am not going with the Lee kit after all my Lovely wife has said she wants to get me the Lyman reloading kit but now my choice is What press to get they have two they have the T-mag (i like the idea of all the dies already set up). Or the Crusher II ( looks a little more sturdy)

So what say you all I will be loading for .223, .204 ruger, 30-06, 38sp, and what ever else I get blessed with lol. here are pics of the two kits.

I think somebody new to reloading would be beter served with a single stage press. They are simple and less prone to mechanical problems that lead to increased bullet run out . The Lyman Orange Crusher is a solid "Cast Iron" press and will last you several life times .I do have a turret press (Redding T-7) but I used my single stage presses for 30 years before going with a Turret style .I have my Turret set up for loading 22 Hornets only and still use the Rock Chucker 90% of the time .Keep it simple and go with a good single stage and get some experience .There are several good cast iron presses out there and I think they are far superior to the aluminum presses .

PS: I love the orange color !

Just noticed the pictures show gray presses my neighbors unit is orange !

Yeah the moved to grey presses now and yellow other stuff the T-Mag is really not a progressive press it just give you the ability to mount the dies in the press and then rotate to the one you want to use. I like that idea. You can get extra plates and swap out plates and dies without having to move the dies. RP

i agree with ramjet if your new to reloading start with a single stage. i load with both the loaders you've shown plus an all-american and lyman jr turret. the lyman 55 powder measure is one of my favorites.good luck

I started with that same Crusher kit many years ago and still use a lot of the stuff that it came with. The press is very solid and still turns out very accurate ammo. Feel safe if that is the route you pick. No matter which kit you choose make sure to mount it to the most solid bench or table you can.

Welcome to the joy that is reloading.

Kracker,
I started with the "Crusher" and that was back in 1976! Well guess what? That "Crusher" is still going strong and it is still be bolted to my bench and it looks as though it will be there for several more years.

I purchased the Lyman turret press and have been very satisfied. I do not try to use as a progressive but the turret allows me to mount dies, bullet puller, etc. without removing. Just gives me more convenience. I did purchase an extra plate and have upgraded some of the stuff in the kit but all in all have been pleased.
