Is anyone using a magnifier on their AR ? If so how do you like it and what are the pros and cons ?
Right now I have a Eotech and am thinking about putting on a Vortex 3x magnifier.
Thanks
I use an Aimpoint 3x magnifier with my T-1's and CompM4s. I like that setup very much. My T-1's blur the dot but the CompM4s and the T-2's fixed that issue. Mine is on a LaRue mount so I have it off in a pouch, then when I think I'm going to need it on a stage or something, I pop it on and can use the red dot like regular 1x or switch to 3x for a bit of magnification. I'd like to try the 6x, I think that would be even more versatile.

Way more accurate.
Just sayin

i'm with you on this, a midrange fine duplex 2-7x32 would probably be more useful in more situations, and cost about the same as the magnifier, but different folks with different strokes and all that.
cant blame a guy for wanting to make his current optic more functional
Though I am not an AR shooter, I have trouble with the AR concept as folks begin adding stuff to the platform. I would agree with the above posts and just put a really good mount and rings on it with a good 2x7 or 3x9 scope with a suitable reticle.

I have run the Eotech with 3x, 4x and PVS14/3x combination. It worked well for me hog hunting so it sort of depends on what you are trying to accomplish with your optics setup.
One thing to keep in mind.....there are 2 different types of Eotech units and you need to match the height of the unit with your magnifier MOUNT. A FTS mount will give you the option of shooting with or without magnification.
I used the Burris Tipler with a Larue FTS mount and it was a good setup.
