Do any of you have any experience with Magnum Research rifles? I am thinking about getting the MagnumLite in .22wmr.
I was wondering what type of grouping you could expect out of one. The factory said that in their testing they got better then 1.5" groups which I didn't think was very good. I would really like to get a Volquartzen but unless I could find a used one it way out of my price range. Any help you can give me would be great.
Thanks, Mike

A friend of mine bought a Magnum Research rifle, in .22 LR, basically their version of the Ruger 10/22. It is supposed to be a wonder gun, and priced accordingly. We shot it at 50 yds. from a bench, using a 24X Leupold scope to minimize aiming errors, etc. After trying about 10 different varieties of ammo, most of which were standard velocity target ammo, it turned out groups like what a kid would get throwing rocks. Was this one a lemon? Without a doubt. Sadly, he didn't make them stand behind it, but traded if off, so I don't know where it all ended. He got their bolt gun, with the Anschutz action, and that is truly a tack driver!

I have one in .17hmr with the stainless barrel. I've only tried the Hornady 17 grain, and it very consistenty shot at or under 1" at 100yds. The trigger feels like a stock 10/22 target (a little better than the originals). I think some trigger work would make a good rifle great!
The price is much less than a Volquartzen, actually less than buying a 10/22 mag and converting it!

I have the Ruger 77/22 heavy stainless laminated. It has always been sub MOA with the Remington v-max lodas. Right at MOA with the silver box Winchester 40 gr hps. The other 2 rifles like mine I have seen shoot at the range shot quite well, maybe better if their owners thought things out a little better.

This is a 10/22 that I made when the carbon fiber barrel first hit the market several years ago and Magnum Research was one of the leaders and I wanted an "ultra-light" rifle with all the goodies...

I liked it so much that when the .17 Mach2 came out, I had to order another barrel MR barrel and the related goodies..

They are both super accurate.... well under 1 MOA...

The basic difference between the two is that with the .17 M2, I have to bring the scope setting down 35 clicks @ 100yds as the .17 M2 has a really flat trajectory..

I just Sold my HB Laminate Rem.597 22.mag on this site,it will shoot sub-moa all day long with winchester supremes and with remington Premiers.

Nice rifle for the Money. See classified for picture of rifle price right and good looking rifle for the money.

It is sold. But new ones are reasonable and they will shoot with Volqaurtens not quite as good but close for about 1/3 of the money.
