Magpul 20 round clip only holds 5 shells right now

Well today I decided to try to put 20 shells into my Plastic Magpul 20 Round Magazine (Not Clip). So I popped the top off the magazine and starting pushing some Hornady 55gr Max V shells into the Clip.

I got four shells in it and then the fifth shell was hard to load. I could not get another shell into the Magazine.

I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong or if there is a way to take the bottom off the magazine and check inside the thing for an obstruction.

Are the springs on this Magpul magazines so strong when they are new that it's hard to get more than 5 shells into the thing? I'm new to using the Magpul magazines. I've got metal Magazines from Bushmaster that I've been using. They work fine IMHO. Two of them hold 10 shells and one of them only holds 5 shells. Then I got to more 30 round magazines that I've not used yet. They are still in the packaging. I don't really need them for hunting coyotes. But I got them just in case that later on they can't be purchased anymore. wink! wink! IE in case all [beeep] breaks loose someday in this country.

There is a "button" in the middle of the bottom plate of the magazine ("Clip"). Push that button down with a small screwdriver, or the like. The bottom plate will then be pushed forward with your thumb. Be careful, the spring will jump out at you!

i might have to get some of these "clips", i know colorado has a law against purchase of over 15 round magazines, maybe "clips" are legal!

Long ago, when I was first hired, a young co-worker used the term "clip" on the range. The firearms instructor walked over to him and stated "Clips go in little girl's hair, and we ain't got no little girls around here except for you".

I about pissed myself..... In fact, I'm still chuckling thinking about it.

Oh yeah, and the "little girl" didn't make it a year. I think he mows grass now.

A magazine is an ammunition storage and feeding device within or attached to a repeating firearm. Magazines can be removable (detachable) or integral to the firearm. The magazine functions by moving the cartridges stored in the magazine into a position where they may be loaded into the chamber by the action of the firearm. The detachable magazine is often referred to as a clip, although this is technically inaccurate.

One of the last new clip-fed, fixed magazine rifles widely adopted that wasn't a modification of an earlier rifle was the M1 Garand rifle. The first semi-automatic rifle that was issued in large numbers to the infantry, the Garand was fed by a special eight round en-bloc clip

OK thanks guys. I found the button and discovered the 5 round limiter inside after I got the bottom off. Now it works fine. I went out and bought another Magpul 30 round magazine with the sight window in it. I'm learning new stuff about these AR15's ever day now. LOL

I knew something was wrong when I could not get more than five shells in the thing. LOL
