making 17 fireball brass

Unless you just wanna make it yourself there is a place called high plains brass that makes some for 17 fireball. Reasonably priced too if i remember. Good luck..

I made a bunch of Mach IV brass out of IMI .223. The .17 Fireball didn't exist at the time. Neither did Lapua .221 brass. And Rem. Fireball brass was (probably still is) just crap. A lot of steps involved in that, and no way I can remember them.

I'd think going from .221 to .17 is nothing but a neck down though? Simple as can be. Use an intermediate bushing if need be.

I have made a few thousand 17 fireball and 20 vartarg but I used Redding case forming dies and formed brass for both from LC 223 brass, which was very labor intensive.
I also necked down some Lapua 221 brass to 17 FB using a 20 VT fl die then a 17 FB die but I had to turn the case necks since mine has a custom chamber.

You should be able to just get a Hornady 20 VT FL die probably the cheapest and run the 221 brass thru it then the 17 FB die, Imperial sizing die works good use it very sparingly or Hornady one shot lube it works very well also.

Making the brass yourself from 223 with all the steps makes you more attentive to where your brass is ejected at the range and out in the field!!
Making it can be a good stress reliever or add more stress. Depends on the equipment used and ones skill level.
Making 17FB from 17Mach-IV is the easiest!!
