I was wondering if any of you guys have converted 25-06 brass from 30-06 brass? I have a lot of 30-06 brass available to me. If so what problems if any did you run into and what was the case life like?

Years ago I made .25-06 brass from .30-06.. I was quite young at the time.. After making .22 Cheetah from 243 brass I would think you might have to turn the necks for good success.

Just run it through the 25-06 die... set the FL die so you don't generate any headspace.

PM me if you need to know how to do that.

I used to make .25-06 from .30-06, but after I bought a .30-06 I now use .270 brass for .25-06. The process is simple enough and I have never needed to ream the necks. I do need to trim the .270 brass though.

I did my first batch from leftover 270 as well, easy enough just size and trim .but trimming wasnt The funnet thing i did that day. After i decided i liked the caliber i ordered some brass.

I've made 25-06 from .270 also. I've read that it's easier if you run 30-06 through a .270 sizing die then final sizing with your 25-06 dies.

Yes, that's what I ended up doing.

Catshooter walked me through the quite simple process of turning 308 into 7/08. He was spot on. Imperial sizing wax was the sh!t.........

He did the same thing for me. Def an easy to follow process!

When I resized 270 Win to 25-06 I had to trim it first, run it through the 25-06 full length die then trim again. I believe the 30-06 might require less triming do to the dimensions or how long the brass is if it has been fired before.

The resized 270 cases worked very well for me.

I always have the fear of grabbing a 25-06 sized 270 and loading it into my 270 by mistake. If you load for both, 25-06 and 30-06 or 270 make sure you have a full proof way of keeping them seperated.

Might be ugly.

I have resized a lot of 30-06, 270, and 280 for my 25-06. 270 seems to be the easiest for resizing but takes a lot of trimming after. 30-06 the neck looks a little funny after resizing but after 1 shot it fire forms them perfect.

I agree with Bowlseye,if you shoot other calibers make 100% sure you know what you're grabbing.
