Making a ecaller

Hi, i did the same set up basically as some have made here. Radio shack mini amp and the horn, cables and mp3 player. I am not getting a lot of volume out of it and i want to increase it. I went out today, but it can be heard out to about 100 yds. Some people have told me that the fox pros can go out to 1000 ft and beyond? I don't know how that can be but if its possible i want to do that. I thought about adding another radio shack mini amp to the above set up, do you think that will increase my volume thx you guys have a nice site here robert

Is the volume turned up on the MP3 player? Are you talking about the speaker in the RS amp or do you have a separate speaker horn that plugs into the RS amp?

Hi volume is turned up on both the mp3 and the radio shack mini amp. There is a picture some where of basically the same thing that i made, except my mp3 player is different. Like the guys comment said on that post, It goes about 100 yrd. I think it needs more amp to so it will be louder. My horn is from radio shack as well, Just like the guys post/pictures thx Robert

thx jack my set up looks like your link i didn't have the silver plug on. i actually had it at one time on the mp3 player first then when it didn't work i removed it. that silver adapter in the picture, does it matter if it goes there or on the mp3? How far does your sound go? Some one said that their fox pro goes at least 1000 ft. I live in so cali and I need range and luck lol. 5 yrs looking for yote and only shot one, with my 06. I need professional help lol

"How far does your sound go?"

LOL...... How do you measure that?

obama, with his big azz ears may hear it at a 1/2 mile.

A coyote may hear it about the same.

I'd probably be hard pressed to hear it at 50 feet.

How do you measure that?

something is not right....i have that exact setup and you can heear it a long way.....on medium....

Here is one of my home made ecallers.
It is very versatile,it can be used as stand alone.
As i have 65 calls, some are recorded with up to 10 minutes of silence, than 1 minute or so of calling.
Some just seconds, and some a few minutes. All in 24 bit.
For plenty of time to get down wind.
And no remote needed.
It also can be used like a pm-3 as i can put the mp3 player in my pocket and run my 50 foot cord out.
It will play sitting on a sheet of ice,as you can see the inside is foam insulated. And has never skipped in single digits.
It will play all night on one 9volt,and 1 aaa battery.
and it is loud...and clear sounds recorded in 24 bit...

Happy, i see the mp3 player, mini amp but what is that thing in the back left? what type of can is that stuff in too. As far as trying to hear how far away it can be heard, i walked down the street and then use my range finder to determine how far i could hear it from. Is 1000 ft to 1/2 mile a lie for the fox pro?

I see battery powered mini amps for guitars do you think i can use this instead of the radio shack mini amp?. I think if i go as loud as I can get, it will reach out farther. thx robert

R Robert: I use a Rio Sport MP3 player with sounds down loaded on a SD card, The RS amp/speaker (size of a pack of cigarettes)#277-1008C and it is almost loud enough with out the 8ohm speaker horn. With the speaker horn plugged in, it will hurt my ears turned up. Try the MP3 player and the RS amp/speaker together without the horn and see how loud it is. Mine is almost loud enough without the horn to suit me.

I think you have that silver sterio to mono plug wrong. It needs to come out of the RS mini amp on the wire that goes to the horn. Your description did not sound like it was set that way. Mine is antiquated. I use a cd player.

I record my cds' at as loud a vol as possible without going outside the bars. The cd player gets turned up to max. The mini amp I don't turn up any further than necessary to keep the hiss down. I have a magic marker pen mark on the volume control of the mini amp to keep from going too high. This set up can be heard at 1000 feet by the human ear. Don't know how far a yote can hear it. I know it's loud enough but would like to get it louder without the hissing but don't know what amp to use.

use goldwave and take the hiss out it is simple.....
i have a bought recording program....mine cant be heard till a sound comes out of it...and you can record the sounds louder...

in the left corner is a toggle switch....if im only moving 500 yards or so and im gonna use the same sound i just flip the switch...then flip it on at the nexxt set...makes it simple...my foxpro sits on the shelf anymore.....

I don't hear any hiss out of mine maybe because the volume is so low lol. You can hear yours from a 1000 foot away just with the radio shack mini amp. i am doing something wrong

I just rehooked everything with the same results, it works and it using the horn makes it louder then with just the radio shack mini amp. I used the with a stereo to mono plug with and without going from the amp to the horn with no difference in loudness. I don't see how I am going to get close to the 1000 ft range at all lol. All mp3 players don't they have about the same output as far as to power the headphones? Maybe there isn't enough juice coming out of the mp3 player? I actually have two different brands and they are doing about the same in the loudness area.

Hi, i just came back from a sears parking lot, which is pretty big. There are houses around it although there is also a block wall around the parking lot. I drove over there and placed my caller out there and drove to the other side and with my diesel truck running i could hear it. I guess i could have gone across the street into the other parking lot but i didn't want it running too long. It is early in the am so there isn't any noise so to speak it had to be at least 300 yrds but in the field it doesn't seem that loud and it still doesn't seem that loud even up close. oh well, i have a new idea not sure if it would work, say i keep the same set up as basically we all have and used a splitter of some kind to hook up two of those mini amps and then run both of those into the same two wires on the horn? I figure perhaps that the one line coming out of the mp3 player with a splitter/plug to plug into two of those mini amps will increase the volume twice. Maybe? what do you guys think?

Don't take this as a smart a** question but are you listening on the back side of the speaker horn when the volume isn't very loud. The speaker horns are very directional. Loud when pointed at you and very quiet when pointed away.
