Makore and more.

Got a few calls turned this weekend so I thought I'd get them listed tonight. Closed reed calls are voiced cotton tail but I'll gladly change that to jack if you like. Open reed calls come with extra reeds of different thickness so you can tweak the sound if you like. They do great distress and pretty good barks, howls and ki-yi's as is or with a thin reed do a great baby cotton tail or bird distress. Asking $16 each delivered on these. Calls are numbered 1 - 4 left to right in the first pic and 5-8 in the second pic.

Calls 1-4 are all Makore, also known as African Cherry.

#'s 5 and 6 are Padauk also known as Coral wood.
#'s 7 and 8 are Blood wood. They are actually a little more red than what the picture shows.

I accept checks, money orders and paypal.
Thanks for looking...........Dale

C Latrans,

I think your calls are beautious but would caution you using Makore. Becareful not to inhale the dust as it is seriously distressing to the upper respiritory region. In my shop we often construct millwork from solid and veneer Makore. Several of the guys break out and have breathing reactions when sanding it.

It is in fact a member of the Mahogony family. Some spiecies are toxic to humans as far as inhilation and skin rashes.

Sealed well it should not present a problem but....

Dave, my calls are all dipped in sealer, most get 2 coats and a few get 3. Also my wood working is all done out doors and in South Dakota, there is no such thing as a calm day. I appreciate your concern and will heed your warning. Thanks, Dale
