ANY OF YAL GOT AN OPPION OF TH MARLIN MR-7 25-06? I'VE GOT ONE BUT AIN'T USED IT ON YOTES. IT'S MY FIRST BIG RIFLE. HOW DO YAL THINK IT COMPARES TO OTHER BRANDS AND MODELS?

BRAD,
First off let me welcome you to Predator Masters. Secondly let me ask you to please not type in all CAPS. On the internet that is know and yelling. Also it's irritateing to read.

As far as your question I've never owned a Marlin MR-7.But I have had a Rem700 and a Savage 110 in 25-06. They work like a dream. The small 85 grain ballistic tips will not tear up a coyote too bad, and sometimes will not tear it up at all.

Justin

I don't know anything about the Marlin Rifle, but I have a Remington M700 BDL in 25-06 that I have had for almost 20 years. I have a 243, 30-06 and a new 270 that I have had since 83 that is still in the box. I shoot the Hornady 75 gr hollow points loaded with 53 grains of Accurate 2700. This gives a muzzle velocity of 3500 fps. I use this on everything up to and including deer. I like this load because it shoots flat and is very accurate in my rifle. Depending on where you hit a coyote it can leave a big hole. The good side is they don't run off.

I say it would be a dang nice rifle for any type of hunting. I had not read anything about this rifle but when I did, all that was available was .270 and 30/06. When did they introduce it in 25-06?

Welcome aboard and YEEEEHAAAA!!!! I've looked these rifles over, (haven't had a chance to shoot one yet), but I'm looking forward to the opportunity. They seem like a well thought out rifle.

Andrew, i;m not sure when they came out with the 25-06, but i bought mine new in 1999. i'm not sure they even still produce the MR-7 as on the MARLIN web site they don't even have it listed. i've tried to look up a review on it and can't find one. they did make it in 270, 30-06 and 25-06.

Here's what the Blue Book says about the Model MR-7 Bolt Action:

.22-250 Rem.(advertised in 1998, but never mfg.).243 Win.(advertised in 1998, but never mfg.), .25-06(new 1997),.270 Win, .280 Rem(new in 1998), .30-06, or .308 Win.(advertised in 1998, but never mfg.)

Justin
