Management Buck

I drew a Whitetail tag for the upcoming season this year. I thought I would let you guys see a deer that was deemed as a "management" buck on the property that I will be hunting on. Notice that he has an 8-point typical frame. I'm looking forward to connecting on one of the "BIG" boys that they have there.

For the record this property is not high fenced. It is free range whitetail hunting at it's best.

Hey Brian,

Congratulations!! Which hunt did you draw?? Fill us in on the details. I am chomping at the bit for deer season. Reagan county, where my lease is, just upgraded to 5 deer from 4. They are trying hard to get the doe ratio back in line.

Good Hunting,

Bob C.

Bob,

I drew a tag in Unit 18, Southwestern Kansas. I have exclusive access to a VERY LARGE parcel of property. There has been a buck seen, on many occasions, in one particular area that the locals are saying is WAY Bigger than this guy pictured. They are reporting that he is Wider, Taller, Heavier, and a stand up twelve point. Needless to say, I'm not getting much sleep these days, thinking about opening morning.

Hey Brian,

That is an awesome rack. Those Kansas whitetails can get huge. I have a friend up in Tulsa that is getting ready to head for Kansas also. I expect to see some great pictures from you this fall. Where are you hunting here in Lone Star country?

Good Hunting,

Bob C.

Bob,

Unfortunately, I don't have any property leased this year. I will probably try to hunt a few times with friends but or at least try to take my kids, so I am always open. Any suggestions? I just haven't found a place here that I wanted to take root with. Most landowners have started adding so many RULES, that you can barely HUNT anymore. I'm not really blaming them though. There are a few hunters who have taken advantage of their generosity or torn their places up. So they have started adopting rules and regulations on their property that is so restrictive it makes it difficult to hunt with any flexibility. As any whitetail hunter knows, flexibility is often necessary to locate and kill ol' mossback. Maybe I'm being too picky. I do have a buddy that owns 4500 acres down by Ozona, so I may try my luck on his place once or twice, if I can talk him into it.
