The carpet in my aluminum boat is coming apart and I have been looking at marine vinyl flooring as a replacement. Anyone replace their carpet with this type of flooring? PROS & CONS, TIPS, OPINIONS, BRANDS to get or avoid.
My boat is used for fishing 9 months out of the year and duck hunting the remainder. Duck hunting consists of transportation of people & gear to the blind. I think that the vinyl would be easier to clean (mud, blood, fish scales, etc) and not retain water like carpet. I am concerned about the vinyl staying glued down where the deck makes a radiused 90 degree bend downward to the floor and also the same bend around the rear bench seat. The boat has a seat base welded to the deck (aprox 8" x 8" with a hole in the middle for the seat pedistal) that is aprox 1/4" tall that the carpet covers. My question is whether the vinyl will stretch and conform to the seat base and stay glued down. Removing the seat base is not an option. My boat is a 1995 Alumaweld with an elevated front casting deck and a rear bench seat. I am wanting to cover from the front deck to the back of the bench seat.
I want to do this right the first time and not waste my time and money on a botched job.
Thanks in advance.
