i have an older marlin 882 ss that misfires about every fifth shot. i have had it apart and cleaned the entire bolt and it still happens just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem.

Never had any problems with mt 882SSV. Call marlins customer service and talk to them, #1-800-544-8892

What kind of ammo are you using? Are you getting good strong looking strikes on the rim of the cartridge? If you are getting light looking strikes then you might have to replace the firing pin or spring. Rimfire ammo ain't what it used to be especially 22 LR. I bought some Fed bulk pack stuff and found about 17% would not go off. Tested in 3 different guns. There is some junk out there now days. Dave

every brand out there cci, remington, federal and winchester it strikes and most of the time i can reset the bolt and it will fire on the same spot.

Mine will do it if the bolt isn't completely closed. Carrying it around on my shoulder. The bolt will hit my back and open slightly. If I forget to make sure the bolt is all the way closed before shooting, it misfires everytime. Thats the only time mine does it though.

Yeah, that's how they headspace on a blow-back. Make sure the bolt face and breech are clean and not holding the bolt from seating tight. If there's slop, the firing pin will drive the case forward to take up the slack, instead of crushing the rim.

I bet somebody in the Marlin forum on Rimfirecentral could give you some good troubleshooting tips.
