Yeehaw, look what a little Beer will make me do!

Master of Disaster is what I will name these crazy calls.

and for the GRAND sum of $18.00 (ouch) you too can have a disaster special.

Bloodwood, African Blackwood with Sap section.., and the ever present Deer Antler Dust inlay...the upper (straight) inlay has some colored glass bits in it.

Now for those evenings out with, hitting all the NICE places for Mrs. Coyote, you want to look your best!

And for $18.00, you can! LOL. And doggone, you can sound good too with some great Pick-up Lines of Prey in Distress. The Chicks love these!

Dang it Rick!

You beat me to them. They're unique enough that I wanted one of them for the collection.

Very nice TT... I need to bring some beer over and watch the mad scientist at work. Ain't been out much due to massive overtime that just went to 35-40hrs, Ouch!!!

I don't drink much anymore but I'm thinking of getting back into it. Wonder what I'd wake up to after a 15 pack of pilsner, probably coyote ugly and not Mrs. coyote.

Antler inlay:

I "make" the antler dust two ways...by collecting it as I make an antler call, and by dremel grinding the unusable parts of an Antler.

a fine to medium fine powder consistency works best, at least for me.

1. make a flat bottomed groove in the call
2. apply some quality ($10 bottle) Thick CA glue in the groove, about 3/8 "long".
3. Pack in some antler dust. push it in "tight".
4. add more Antler dust, pack down and have it above the wood surface.
5. add a drop of Quality THIN CA glue.

6. Repeat for the next 3/8" "long' section of the groove.

then apply liberal amount of CA remover on Fingertips!!

wait 30 minutes. hit it with a spritz of CA instant hardner, "for just in case".

Sharpen Skew. Turn. Sharpen Skew. Turn... reapet until flush and oh so pretty /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I need to tell you guys, I don't _really_ consume (much) Beer while running the Lathe. BAD things happen if you do. that!

PS how do you know if your CA is not good enough ? well, just see what happens when you start burnishing and polishing the inlay.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
"bye-bye" pretty inlay, hello "UGLY"

I used to do a lot of woodworking also. After a number of years at it, I just got tired of how a small mistake could ruin an expensive project! Had items in a consignment shop, never sold a single item! People would low ball you, as if you were criminal to make minimum wage at the work. Sure did make a heck of a lot of christmas presents.
