Mauser style action

I know it’s not real popular but just looking at a CRF action and blind box mag. Cz’s are nice but no real stock options for them.

In comercial actions there are a bunch of Herter's J-9's, Santa Barber's, Interarms Mark X's, Remington 798's and a bunch of lesser known Mauser clones. I've owned J-9's and Mark X's bothe very nice rifles. It is almost easier to fine used rifle for less than the actions alone. Some of the J-9's had some beautiful wood on them, mine was an exhibition grade French Walnut factory stock, Herters was a great supplier of high grade wood stocks. My Mark X was a full Mannlicher stock light colorred but great figure.

Want to build a stout mountain rifle for the heck of it. No real need for it but hey it’s only money. Looking for a decent action, manners eh1 or mcm game Scout with a bartlein 2 or 3 contour 22” -24” barrel.

I have a nice Cz 550 American in 6.5x55 but don’t really want to chop it up

They are pretty slick.

I would build it on a Husqvarna 1600 control round action. Very smooth, one of the strongest on the market in the 98 style.

I just happen to have a good one.

Good advice there. Might also add that there are many sporterized Mausers for not much money that have much of the work done already; new bolt handle, scope safety, drilled and tapped. Another source for inexpensive Mausers is Simpsons. With any of these options you'll get into a good action for far less than you'll buy even a Montana Rifle Company action.

Montana Rifle Company is a clone of a model 70. And, winchester or FN is still making controlled round feed guns.

Personally I am partial to controlled round feed guns, I have always been a winchester fan. All my big game hunting guns are controlled round feed.

I believe Legendary Arms Works bought the rights to Ed Brown's CRF action. The action isn't a true Mauser. It is similar to the Bighorn. Anyway, it does have CRF and mechanical ejection.
