Max size shot in extra full choke?

I just bought a Model 1300 short turkey gun to use for coyotes in thick brush areas. It came with the extra full turkey choke. What is the max size shot I can use with this choke?
I was planning on using either #4 buck or Dead Coyote which I believe is "T". Do I need a larger choke size? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks

I do not think there is a max shot size but I would watch the hevishot. it is harder then lead as you might know and might bulge the barrel. The #4 buck should pattern better with a regular full choke or even a modified. I was shooting my shotgun the other day with federal copper plated BB and it grouped best with a turkey choke

I just got off the phone with a Rep. from hevishot. You can use Dead Coyote in extra full turkey chokes but tighter chokes than this will cause the pattern to actually spread out more.
Good to know /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Thanks Guys

I would not shoot any large, BB or larger, shot in my turkey tubes. Just my two cents. Some of that opinion is based on bore size in relation to choke and some based on the .665 or smaller tubes. Regular full and modified chokes will usually pattern large shot denser. Sometimes the more open chokes will work better.

Lead
#4 buck = .240 approx. 20 per oz.
F buck = .220 approx. 28 per oz.
BB shot = .180 approx. 46 per oz.
#2 shot = .150 approx. 94 per oz.

Many, many, shotgun predator hunters are shooting No. Four Buck through chokes of .660" for peak performance with absolutely no ill effects. A SEARCH of the forums archives will reveal a great deal of information.

I've seen the reports and don't doubt them, it's not been my experince though. I've picked my shotguns to turkey hunt with as a primary with the selected chokes. As previously stated you must pattern loads. Sometimes you need more constriction and sometimes less and the only way to find out is shooting at the pattern board. My point is start with the most open choke you have and work toward the tighter chokes with this larger shot. If you find out that you are improving as you work through your tubes then it might be worthwhile to buy the tighter after market tube. Usually the testing starts in the reverse order though and the shooter never tries the standard full or modified tubes that came with the gun. After all he just invested in a tight choke and it only got a shot or two in his coyote target at 40 yds. so why try them the blasted gun won't pattern.

Hi my friend has a Rem 870 3 1/2 super mag. With the Super full turkey choke. He use Rem. 3 inch #4 buckshot. And he used Win 3 1/2 # 4 Buckshot. It has the foring cone cut out of the barrel. At 55 yrds it will but from 27 to 29 pellets in a coyote out line. The gun will pattern good. He has a scope on it so he can move his pattern around. VM
