Meopta or Vortex?!?

I'm still not 100% settled on an optics choice for my current AR build. At the moment I am contemplating a Meopta MeoPro 4.5-14x44 HTR and either the Vortex PST or HS-T in the 4-16 power range.

I thought about FFP, but don't know that I would really need it or use it much with my 20 Practical. I have thought about adding the Leupold Mark AR to the list, but would like a little more than 12 power magnification.

I don't know any dealers close that have Meopta scopes to look through, so I will only be able to physically see the Vortex scopes. Either will be purchased through the manufacturer for pricing purposes.

Which would you choose and why?

I owned at one time the PST 4-16 and 6-24. I don't know if my 4-16 was a lemon but it was noticeably outclassed by the 6-24. Huge let down of an optic. I'd lean towards the Meopta but most of my Meopta stuff is MeoStar not Meopro so not sure how it stacks up. I think the Meopro is made in the US though? It's at least assembled here. PST and HS-T line are made in the Philippines.

Have you given the new Razor LH a look?

For glass quality it's not even close, Meopta by a mile. If you buy a Meopta and don't like it you'll have no problem selling it.

If you buy a Vortex and if you don't like it you'll have to give it away.

I did look, online anyways, at the Razor LH. I do not care for either reticle available in that particular scope.

Haha, I expected that response from you! I've seen your distaste for Vortex scopes below the Razor line in past topics. Unfortunately, the Razor line is beyond my means at this point.

Seeing so many fail to function as advertised, not show durability, and even be broken from the box is where that distaste originates. The Meopta will be better for you in the long run, and fits your budget.

Drive to Cabela's and see the Euro line made by Meopta to give you an idea of what they are like.

I do like my MK-AR's as well. Good scopes with good features at a great price point.

I was think along those lines. I wasn't 100% on which of the Cabelas scopes were made by Meopta. I was under the impression that it was the Instinct Euro line that would be similar to the MeoPro line.

760 is actually trying to help ya. Buy the Meopta and you will never look back,
Ghostmans advice on dumping a Vortex if you find you have made a mistake, is sound advice.
Good luck I hope you pick one that really suits ya!

I do realize pahntr760 is helping. I have come to value his advice here! I am planning to check out Meopta in one way or another. I'm actually corresponding with Barb from Meopta to figure out a good way to see them first hand before purchasing.

You had better like it, because you will use it. Everyone talks about how great the warranty and their CS is, because it gets tested A LOT. It seems Vortex like to use the customer as their QC.

Meopta is a 30 year warranty, and the Cabela's branded Meopta's are Lifetime too. Vortex didn't set ant precedent in that regard.
