Midway USA

I have had 22 lr ammo on order from Midway for over a year. About 3-4 weeks ago I called them to check status because I had a chance to buy from somewhere else at a good price.

They said they were getting in some ammo but not enough to fill all backorders. They told me that my backorder was in good shape and would be shipped when they get to my name of the backorder list. Well....on Tuesday they sent me an email and cancelled by backorder.

My order has been canceled, and I lost an opportunity to buy elsewhere.

Midway sucks and Larry Potterfield (CEO) is a jerk. Please buy your stuff elsewhere. I will even help you find it.

THANKS

And here is the rest of the story. The manufacture called them and said they will not be able to fill the complete order to midway so all the orders for that ammo has been canceled. Had and still have some other on order there yet.
I have had some things on backorder for almost 2 years on other sites also.

The only other reason they cancel orders is below directly from the website.

Please ensure a valid credit card (non-expired, sufficient funds, etc.) is associated with your backorder at all times.

If the card on file is declined when your products are ready to ship from MidwayUSA, your backorder will be automatically cancelled.

Backorders are automatically cancelled once the card on file has expired.

So please take your hate somewhere else.

No need to be a jerk.

Larry is a jerk? Please tell us more about your personal interactions with him. I must have missed that part ......

I have been doing business ... a LOT of business ... with Midway for several years and I can safely say that they have never, EVER failed to ship on time and always ALWAYS got the order right.

You come on here complaining about them cancelling an order for merchandise that everyone on the planet knows is unobtainable. Give me a break ......

Where's that ignore button ........

You really cant whine about not getting any 22 ammo. Its the standard in these days with online outfits no matter who owns them. You got cancelled after waiting so long, its not the end of the world, look else where. Its the way midways system is set up & it happens.
I can take or leave midway, but Ive also never had an problem with any orders when buying from them.
That said I also never buy or put anything on backorder that I have to wait & hope for.

I dealt with Midway for a number of years. They have a nice website but their prices are higher than else where. I always check with them but find others with the same thing at a lower price.

A word of advice is anytime you have a chance to buy locally do it. A bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush.

If you failed to buy them somewhere else when you had the chance, that is your fault. I would have bought and still kept the others on back order.

if your waiting on someone to let you know 22lr is available your wasting your time as EVERYBODY is looking for it, Midway has never let me down, in the recent past I had some Hornady V-max 60gr bullets on back order when I heard they went back in production, put them on BO at Midway got an email several weeks later and made my order. simple as that, you got to get out more and shop around last month I took the family over to Cabelas to get some arrows while I was there (as usual) I checked there ammo supply and was talking to one of the salesmen asking about the Remington Thunderbolts, He noticed all three of my daughters and told me to hang on for just a minute or two, So he comes walking back and hands me a WHOLE BRICK of Thunderbolts and says this is THE last box.
Moral of the story...right place right time.
One more thing I only paid $25.99 for the brick.

I sent a E-mail to Midway inquiring if they could see about purchasing quick change bushings bulk style and save the customer some money (don`t have a need for the little box they come in).
Anyway, Larry replied to the e-mail personally, told a little about his shop in the beginning and the thing he missed most about those early days was visiting with customers.
Seemed like an alright guy to me..ya know..can`t recall for sure but seems like we might have even talked on the phone a bit..my memory is not what it used to be.

They have a great website, easy return policy, and now cheap shipping so I will continue to shop there. My product arrival notification came in for 6 lbs of IMR 1680 and I got it , no hassle. When was the last time you've seen 1680 ??
Thanks for your business....and that's the way it is.
Thanks Larry !!

Wow buckhalljr. Just because you and everyone else has problems getting 22 ammo, does not give you the right to start slamming a good company like Midway USA, just because you did not get what you wanted. (NEWSFLASH) Every supplier has had big shortages of 22 ammo.

I have never had any problems with any order I have had with MidwayUSA, (Gee I just received my Midway order today that was placed on Sunday 11-30). I have talked to Larry once when I had a Question about something I was ordering on-line and he was very helpful with guiding me through my question and compleating my order.

I would guess I have had somewhere over 25+ orders with Midway in the past 10 years, mostly for reloading equipment or reloading componants, Never any problems.

Good Luck with your next purchase of 22 ammo

I had a bucket of 22LR on back order for over a year, just got an email this week telling me ta had been cancelled due to the fact that they had been notified that they could not expect delivery themselves.

I'm supposed to get mad at midway bc they can't get what I'm looking for and actually told me so?

I must be crazy. I've probably had 25+ orders with them in the past 10 months.

Well a friend bought me a small xmas gift a few years ago for about $24.00 and was hit with a $3.00 surcharge because the order did not reach the $25.00 min. In my opinion she should have told and charged no more than $25.00. Most all of the people that I deal with in the shooting sports are great but I think Midway could do better. I and probably most others on this site always round up for the NRA and Larry takes the credit. Don't get me wrong the money is going to a good cause.

The $25 minimum is clearly stated on their website. They can't reach out and hold the hand of every seller that they have.

"Larry takes the credit"? Seriously? That's comical.

if my memory serves me correctly at checkout your friend would have been notified before finalizing order, don't cry over $3 that you didn't spend.

I shop there often. I also shop others. While I have noticed the prices go up a bit, the shipping has gone way down. It's a wash. If I am buying something that will go into an envelope, I will always go to Midway, because of the shipping cost. Graphs is a good deal too, with their $7 shipping on all orders no matter the size.

I'm getting ready to place my 3rd order to them in less than a month. They used to be high on shipping but now they are reasonable. I had them cancel a rimfire ammo back order and there was no use in me getting mad because they couldn't get the product. I'm glad they canceled it instead of stringing me along.
