Military Shooters - what a hoot! Mojo Sights?

Anyone out there using their military rifles to hunt coyotes with? Well, I am going to try it. When a M1903 Springfield or a K98k can produce groups under 2" @ 100 yards with iron sights - this might be fun or really M-bear-Xss-ing!

I think I'll try my M1903A3 with light 125gr Noslers.

Anyone else knocking the dust off their military rifles to beat around the bushes.

Anyone tried Mojo sights on any of their rifles? Do they work?

Beat around the bushes?? My milsurps are my main guns for big game when not using front stuffers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've used the mojo on a K31 with excellent results and also on a MN 91/30 with excellent results.

Thanks LC.

I've heard that the K31 are real shooters. I was wanting to pickup a Mojo for a 1941 Oberndorf since it does so well off the bench with several bullets. I just didn't know if these Mojo sights were for real - evidently they must be. I suspect that the double aperture would be fast. Are they?

My friend is thinking about getting a MN M44 that he can pick up at our local sporting goods store for about $80, and then putting a new stock, and bolt (bent bolt handle to accomodate scope)on it. Do you think this would work for him for big-game practicallity. Also, he says he wants to use it for varminting for the time being because he's a fan of using way to much gun for the job. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

i have a03-A4 that i use some, but my favorite is M1A1 match 308, i was the first one in this area with one. i shot 1000yds competition at volunteer rifle and pistol club back in the 70 & 80's . it has been through the ft. benning match armorer and it will put um where you aim. i need a good scope on it now.

Man, from someone who has shot a few thousand rounds from my M44s...

I imagine it would work perfectly well for big game at a moderate distance (100-200yds) as the M44s usually arent tack drivers. He might get some wierd looks though crusing the woods with the bayonet extended to bring the POA to the POI. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I have shot one coyote with an M44 using the green laquered 200grain russian 'hunting' loads. The bullet pretty much went right through, with very little damage to the entrance side and a hole about the size of a half dollar on the exit.

On the plus side though, if your buddy missed the concussion and muzzle blast from the short carbine would more then likely stun the animal enough for an easy follow-up shot. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a 1917 enfield I need to stock and find a scope for it.
I also am building 2 .22-250's of the '98 mauser. I started with one for my dad, I'm not sure I will get it done for Christmas. His is a BRNO 98/22 I rebarreled with a A&B 24" bull(man is that thing heavy) and a Richard's Wildcat stock. (I have sanded so much I can't feel my fingertips.
So Much to do and so little money, or is time?
Have Fun
Sean

I'm not convinces that they are all that fast. Don't get me wrong, I've poked two elk with it right where I aimed, but the dual aperture seems to slow me down a bit. In the MN91/30 i used the mojo rear and the issue front sight with good results and am thinking of taking the front aperture off the k31 and go back to the issue blade up front.

Bes thing about the mojo is it allows sight in with a variety of loads. I have two k31's that adjust pretty well with the issue sights and have stayed with those on those two guns.

As far as the m44 goes, the bore conditions of those guns vary quite a bit. Aztec arms had some pretty good M38's for a while and they make a nice field gun and there is no bayonet to deal with. If he is going to buy at Big 5 he should take a bore rod, bore button and a few patches into the store and wipe the bores of a bunch before he buys. That way you get what you see, whereas with mail order you never know!
