Mini 14 and Wolf Ammo

Hey guys,
I was just wondering if you can shoot Wolf ammunition in a Ruger Mini 14? I plan on using Remington Accutips for hunting, but just want cheap ammo for plinking. Also, will a Mini 14 shoot 5.56 Nato ammunition as well?

Thanks,

Wolf is horrible ammo. I would not waste the money on it especialy in a mini unless laying down cover fire or clearing a street in a non life threatening situation. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I bought 1,000 rounds from cabellas when I got my .223. It would do 4 inch groups at 100 yards in a bolt action rifle with bull barrel. Check out Winchester Whitebox.

A mini 14 will make most anything go bang. That is about the only purpose of the bottom end ammo. Go for it! Firecrackers might be cheaper?

Cheap has its drawbacks; if you wish to lower your ammo costs for plinking I believe you would be better served by buying bulk Federal. The cases are reloadable and of good quality.

If you plan to shoot significant quantities regularly, you may wish to do the math on the purchase of a progressive Dillon, like the 550.

And, yes, the Ruger will shoot surplus NATO, but, verify that the bullet weight is compatable with your twist rate.

Hope you like cleaning your gun alot because it is the most dirtiest shooting ammo I have ever seen. I had a guy tell me the other day that he shot some through his AR and it grouped really good.

I have a box of twenty I'm going to try in my bolt gun next range trip. This box came from a case of 500 from the gunshow that a fellow shooter picked up.

In the past I have shot .223 in my nef guns and in a friends mini14 with so so results. The lacquered cases stuck in the nef.

BUT This new stuff is differenmt. It is 55 gr HP, steel cases (gray sorta pewter colored) and does not appear to be lacquered

Another note on Wolf, I shoot a lot of it in my sks with great results and get as good accuracy with it as can be gotten with my handloaded 123 gr Vmax rounds.

The Wolf ammo functioned fine in my Mini-14 with the factory 5 round mag.

The Wolf ammo didn't work for s--t in my Mini-14 with the aftermarket 30 round mags.

Wolf grouped 6" @ 100yds in my Mini-14.

Any other brand grouped 3" in my Mini-14.

The red case-to-bullet sealant of the Wolf ammo would always make a mess on my Mini too (it was stainless).

I sold the Mini-14 recently, I kinda miss it now that all the bad stuff is legalized... But the FAL I built showed me what an autoloader should be capable of.

My Russian SKS loves the Wolf.

I shoot Wolf out of my SKS also and it does fine, of course I never shoot much on paper but it seems to hit everything I aim at without any trouble. Yeah it fouls your gun up some but you gotta clean it no matter what you shoot through it so go with it if your looking for cheap ammo for plinking.
